Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth the walk to the path. Breathtaking views and just left me awestruck. Photos can't capture the incredible beauty. Absolutely incredible, probably my absolute favourite spot from my recent visit to Hong Kong!

Once you reach the steep part (coming in from the bus stop) you want to turn back. From here, the path becomes steeper. It is not an easy hike, we can tell you that.

The signages are not that well placed. We asked the locals, they were all very not friendly. The views are ok. Just that signages and locals are not nice.

Definitely recommend taking a walk to the Wisdom Path. The crowd is a lot thinner. You will see cows and “post apocalyptic” buildings on the way, just keep following the signage and path. Once you get there, you’ll know. The setting is refreshing and relaxing. Go with a friend who knows traditional Chinese if possible, the Buddhist poems on the wooden beams adds to the experience.
The Wisdom Path is magnificent with a bit of mist.
There are further hiking trails you could take but we didn’t due to time.

We did Lantau Island on one of our days off from business meetings and luncheons on a trip to Hong Kong and area. We had done the Buddha climb and needed to get away from the thousands of other tourists so we saw the sign for the Wisdom Path and followed it.
A few points along the trail we weren't sure if we were going the right way as we passed what looked like an abandoned restaurant and other assorted garden shed type buildings. We kept going through the trees with lots of birds around and a few stray dogs who were harmless. We came out of the trees a few times and the sweeping vista views were phenomenal!
There were very few people doing the Wisdom walk so that was very nice and peaceful, possibly only saw 20 other people total during our walk there and back. The large totems with Mandarin sayings on them are humongous and even though we did not understand what they said, it was really beautiful out there like we were actually in nature even with the hoardes of tourists just a few minutes away over the next hill.
If you do the Buddha climb don't forget to check out the Wisdom Path, it is tranquil and helps you to cope with going back into the scrum of humanity.

The Wisdom Path is an outdoor display of impressive calligraphy work of Prof Jao on to wooden columns reminiscent of bamboo tiles (zhujian) used for writing in ancient times. There are 38 giant rectangular inscribed wood pillars organized in the form of infinite figure (horizontal "8") which presents one of the world's best known Buddhist prayers, the "Heart Sutra". The Heart Sutra is a treasured text revered by Confucians, Buddhists and Taoists alike.
The way to Wisdom Path starts at the base of Tian Tan Buddha near Po Lin monastery. It is around 2.0 Km long walk inside the tranquil and beautiful jungle to reach the destination. The tranquillity of the natural environment of the Wisdom Path enables one to appreciate the masterpiece that combines art and philosophy. The short walk, though physically tiring, is amazingly relaxing and memorable.

A bit off the track but the directions are clear and easy to follow. Expect some 10 to 15 mins walk from the Big Buddha. Very beautiful, peaceful, calm, and you can have the whole place for yourself if you're lucky. It's very worth a visit.

It's 15 to 20 minutes of trail walk from the Tian Tan Buddha. If you are a nature lover you would definitely enjoy it and not a lot of people go there so no crowds.

Hi! :) I am visiting the big Buddha today and I would like to take the wisdom trail as well. How do i find this trail?
Written 7 August 2017
There are signs that will guide you there, just keep following them. It's about a 10 minute walk down some paths past the Buddha (away from the main walkway to get to the Buddha)
