Tamar Park is a must-see on a tourist itinerary. Even if you have limited time, it is worth coming down to this waterfront park where you can get the best views of Hong Kong. Entry is free.
The park has undergone massive renovations in the last few years. It is now a vast grassy and landscaped space, running along the Central foreshore.
From here, you can stand right at the waterfront and look directly across Victoria Harbour to the Kowloon and TST skyline. You also have a unique perspective of the Hong Kong skyline on the Central side. It’s the only place where you can see iconic buildings like the Bank of China, the IFC towers, the Observation Wheel and the Exhibition Centre with a grassy verge in front. The dramatic black mirrored building that looks like a modern triumphal arch is the Central Government Offices.
Other features are:
* The new promenade allows you to walk along the waterfront all the way from the ferry piers right through to the Exhibition Centre and Wan Chai. Allow about 25 min.
* Artwork – at the moment there are some fun installations including a series of over-sized vintage TVs (pop behind the screen for a fun photo).
* Infinity Sculpture – there are a number of sculptures but I particularly like this one. It is the large oxidised sculpture near the Observation Wheel end of the park and it makes a great photo with the IFC towers looming in the background. The endless curves symbolise infinity and also represent the waves of the harbour in front of you and the peaks of the mountains behind you.
* Paths throughout the park are even and flat and accessible for children and pushchairs.

As a park, Tamar Park is just so so. But what makes it distinctive is the fact that it offers a great vantage point for the Central Government Offices which consist of an East Wing and a West Wing linked at the top by an overhanging structure making the whole architecture resembling that of an open door. Also note that on Sundays the park is overwhelmed by Phillpino maids who congregate there on their day off.

If you want to know the city in deep, I really suggest you to take a walk in the Tamar Park in Sunday!
The Philippine people are a crucial part to the Hong Kong community, a lot of middle class families are busy to work outside and rely on hiring them for the household shores.
Apart from the iconic Victoria harbour, Tamar park is a great place for you to understand the Philippine mates, they will gather together on Sunday in some parts of Hong Kong, Tamar park is a great place to meet them!

The Peak is known as the place to view Hong Kong's skyline. However, Tamar Park is worth going to for its free, 360-degree view of the skyline, and because it's much easier to get to and less crowded than The Peak.
As proof, Tamar Park is one of the most popular places for people who live in Hong Kong to watch holiday fireworks displays, such as for New Year's Eve. Locals also like to picnic there.
Tamar Park is best if you visit it combined with one, continuous stroll with the Central Harbourfront and Statue Square. The whole walk would take about 30 minutes.

...by a mile. HK Island doesn’t really use its long waterfront all that well apart from here and North Point and this bit is the better part I think. Big spaces right next to and in amongst spectacular buildings plus a superb view over the water. Also it’s a great space for festivals.

Tamar Park is one of my favourite finds during our recent stay on Hong Kong Island, this a beautiful harbourside green public park in Admiralty located beside the New Central Government Offices, a hidden delight. Not only for the space, peacefulness, impressive architecture, interesting outdoor art installations but also for the amazing harbour views. The park was named after the British naval vessel HMS Tamar which was moored in Victoria Harbour and operated as the headquarters of the Royal Navy until 1946. Do yourself a favour and find Tamar Park.

Tamar Park is an urban park along Victoria Harbour in the Admiralty district of Hong Kong. It linking to the Central Waterfront Promenade creating a continuous green and leisure space between the Central and Wanchai districts in Hong Kong.
Here you will find grassy areas with sculptures and lots of people enjoying a break from the urban chaos of the nearby streets of HK. The area is presently being used as part of the Hong Kong Light Festival so you will find more installations than usual. These are lit up at night providing a bit of after dark entertainment for those who visit this winter.
Tamar Park is also a good place to target for upcoming fireworks displays, particularly the Chinese New Year fireworks which will take place early next February.

Yes, i love parks. Tamar amazes me with its landscape and accommodation. It provided a lot of space for a variety of culture, people and experiences. What i love most is the serenity of the place where people could commune with nature.

After years of improving the settings, the Tamar Park becomes a stroller beloved place afterwork and in public holiday.
A recent visit has seen some beautiful outdoor art which lit up both the places and the visitors mood together.

This is a park and walkway along the shores of Victoria Harbour and provides some respite from the traffic and has excellent views Kowloonand the mountains behind.
