Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Peak Tower is a tourist trap that visitors find themselves sort of stuck in when disembarking the Peak Tram ride at the Upper Terminus. There are no exit signs in this awkward building, instead you are left to wander the floors in search for a way out on your own.

There is a reason, the building is deliberately designed to keep you inside. What you will notice is that you are sort of funnelled to the series of escalators prompting you upward until you reach their Sky Terrace 428. There you pay an additional HK$52 per adult / HK$26 per child to view Victoria Harbour from their rooftop terrace. You can then try to find your way out of this building again so that you can enjoy the rest of Victoria Peak.

Note: The views at Sky Terrace 428 are no better than what you find at the free viewpoint just outside the Peak Tower at the Lion's Pavilion. After you manage to escape the Peak Tower, this is less than one minute walk away along Lugard Road.

Note: To escape the Peak Tower, simply find the Pacific Coffee shop on Level G. There is an exit just to the right of this coffee shop out to the Victoria Peak grounds.

Within the Peak Tower, you will find a group of cheap Hong Kong tourist shops, eateries and coffee shop mentioned above. You will also find a Madam Tussauds Wax Museum, another attraction that can drain you of sightseeing money rather quickly. If these are things you have come for, it is fine to enjoy them when you arrive.

However, if you simply wanting to ride the historic Peak Tram and enjoy the Peak views, you don't have to participate in this tourist trap experience. You can simply exit the building per the directions provided above and enjoy being at Victoria Peak.

The Peak Tram terminal is located inside the Peak Tower. The design is a little confusing with the intent to steer you towards the observation deck at the top level which costs money. Upon exiting the Peak Tram, you will see escalators going up. Naturally you will take the escalator, but when you reach the next level, there is yet another escalator and it continues seemingly ad infinitum. When you finally get to the end of the escalator journey, you face a ticket counter to pay to enter the observation deck. But you don't have to pay unless you want to since there are free observation area elsewhere. You just have to make you way down the numerous escalators and find the exit. There are restaurants and other touristy shops on different levels but I got so flustered trying to find my way out I didn't stop at any of them.

The Peak Tower in Hong Kong offers stunning panoramic views of the city, making it a must-visit attraction. However, its organization struggles to accommodate the large crowds, which can detract from the overall experience. Nonetheless, the vistas make it worth a visit.

It is a beautiful observation facility directly connected to the top station of the Peak Tram, and has various shops and restaurants. At the top is the paid observation deck "Sky Terrace 428" with a 360-degree view. The admission fee is $75, but if you buy it as a set with the Peak Tram, you can get a discount. The discount is automatically applied to Octopus cards, so it's convenient.

This cool wok-shaped structure is home to attractions like Madam Tussauds Hong Kong, Sky Terrace 428, the Peak Market and it forms the Upper Terminus of the iconic and historic Peak Tram.

This is basically a shopping mall sitting near the summit of Victoria Peak. You can find shops like Hard Rock, Crocs etc. There are some cafes in here too! If you can get a good seat, the Pacific Coffee Company boasts some really nice views of the city skyline, especially for those who don’t wish to fork out an additional entrance fee for the Sky Terrace 428. The Sky Terrace was worth it in my opinion; I got to catch a superb view of the Hong Kong city skyline. The weather was cloudy but fine the day I went up, thankfully! There is a professional photographer on site if you wish to get a picture-perfect moment, at a fee of course. For those who don’t wish to fork out that additional charge for Sky Terrace 428, as I said earlier, can always choose to lounge in Pacific Coffee Company or head to the Peak Galleria just opposite. It’s free-of-charge to go up to the top, some nice views to be had from there too. Dining choices in Peak Tower is limited to fine dining, so I suggest the Peak Galleria shopping mall if you’re looking for cheaper alternatives. Oh and the toilets are poorly maintained and downright disgusting (huge cockroaches running around everywhere), which is quite awful, considering this is a popular tourist destination.

Long lines but a peaceful ride up and down with incredible views. Make sure you sit on the right side going up and the left side going down, if not, you will just be looking at the side of the mountain.

The lights are very beautiful, especially if you go to the top. But remember to bring jacket because its very windy and cold at night. The package is much cheaper if you buy return tram ticket plus the tower view. Ask for the package in the tram ticket counter.

One can reach Victoria Peak by either the famous Peak Tram or the much cheaper and circuitous bus ride. But beware the Peak Tower, the complex of tourist traps that surround the upper peak tram station - little more than a bunch of expensive retailers (to offset their astronomical rentals) and a wax museum (anyone wants an expensive photo with Jackie Chan's wax figure?)

The best deal is to resist all urges to shop and take the series of escalators to the top of the anvil-shaped tower where the best aerial view of Hong Kong and Kowloon awaits. Be sure that there are no clouds or rain that might seriously affact visibility. Those with more energy might want to walk-about and there are very pleasant trails around the peak along Lugard and Harlech Roads. The fantastic views are free!

Pay the fee and go up to Sky Terrace 428 to watch the awesome view of Hong Kong from up there.
Rewarding view u got there.

I first went up to the Peak back in 1998 and returned for the first time this past January, 2018. I was traveling with my parents and wanted to show them the view. I was startled, but not surprised, to see all of the shops and infrastructure built to serve an ever-growing tourist population.
Never fear, though, the view was still fantastic and we all agreed that it had been worth the ticket entry and wait. While the queue was quite long as we went in the afternoon, it moved quickly.
Not the quiet venue that I remembered, but still worth it!
