Nice quiet place to get away from the hectic city ambience. Easily reached from shau kei wan MTR, take bus 9. If you like hiking, take the dragon back hike trail. Beach, go to the beach area. Very scenic scenery, but price here are expensive, being tourist area.

Says it all...do not go to Shek-O during the holidays or weekend. We went there by bus inadvertently....original plan was to get off at the penitentiary to do the Dragon Back hike but the instructions found on the web was way off. It said to get off the bus at stop #12 but as it turned out stop #12 is... More

The location was great. Hard to believe this place is just on the other side of Hong Kong island. It's like being in a completely different country. The only downside is the wait for the bus. It can get pretty daunting and tiring before you even get out to the beach if you take the bus. Expect to line up... More

We go here every Sunday with our dog (beware of local dogs there - they mostly mind their own business but I have heard of incidents). Peaceful place away from the city chaos. Our favorite place to eat is the Thai restaurant at the corner - best papaya salad ever!

We came for a BBQ and swim whilst the weather was super hot and would highly recommend Lui's Family Beach BBQ (luisfamilyATnetvigator.com), set up on the left hand side of the beach. Your BBQ rental includes the grill, table and chairs, bin, tongs, charcoal and fire lighters - they will also get the coals started for you with a blowtorch.... More

we walked down to Shek O from our Dragon's back height. Very nice little village - not developed which for Hong Kong was very refreshing. The beach was empty - I think the cloudy windy weather would have a lot to do with that! Well worth a visit - nice afternoon - we had lunch at Copacobana restaurant - they... More

This is a bit less touristy, and is on HK island. From the metro station, you still have to catch a RMB100 taxi. I would suggest rather catching a taxi from Admirality as it is also a R120 taxi fare, and does not involve you using the metro (20 minutes) as there is a more direct route to the beach... More

Nice sandy broad and long beach. Very eager hawkers of chairs and parasols. Big Wave Beach, 2 km down the road, is much more isolated, pristine and private. Both have shark barriers.

The journey to reach Shek o beach was itself fun! You need to go to MTR Shau Kei Wan Station and take bus no.9. The bus almost circles around a mountain and decent to reach a very small beach located between mountains, overlooking a sea and mountains. We went in afternoon. It was 12degrees. Clear water, clear beach. A bit... More
