We liked the relaxed atmosphere at the small, quiet cat street market. There was an interesting range of stuff to browse through & we were very happy with the service. We bought some small ceramic bowls & the stall holder was happy to wrap them up securely for us so that they would survive our flights home.

A smaller and more quiet area on the Hong Kong island. A lot of antiques and arts can be found here as well as some vintage stores. Ta at the end of Hollywood road and therefor did suggest you to start from here and make your way to the west part of the island. Make sure to visit Upper Lascar... More

A market street, just over 100m long, ideal for authentic looking souvenirs. Easily accessible from Sheung Wan station on the H2 metro line. There is something to suit most pockets, from very expensive antique statues and furniture to small inexpensive objects from street vendors. There is quite a high turnover so some days are better than others.

Cat Street Market - nothing to do with felines, but referring to the Chinese slang for "odds and ends". If only we had wanted some Maoist kitsch, this would have been the place to find it. Lots of other goods too - some operators could not possible know what lies in the piles of ?? When it rains, on come... More

Cat Street is a block from the Man Mo Temple and I would combine a visit to both, Cat street is lined with Asian antique and junk stores, In addition there are a number of kiosks selling the run of the mill tourist trinkets. Not overly exciting. Hope this helps.

I really liked this little market, I bought the chopsticks for myself here as a souvenir of Hong Kong and I bought a lot of little nice things, bowls and spoons, teapots and cups. I am very happy about my shopping here.

Lots of antiques in a somewhat flee market like setting with stalls in the street. Good alternative for the much more expensive antique shops that are just around the corner. Nice to pick up a souvenir.

Friendly vendors though the stalls were mostly same-same- reproduction items which I've seen in similar markets across other parts of asia and even the middle east. If you're in the area then of course wander on through though I'm not sure it warrants its own exclusion.

Mostly antiques odds and ends and not worth a visit. Don't bother! Mostly for locals I think and not people visiting.

This is one of my favorite places in Hong Kong. I have found and purchased more than 15 lucky Japanese ceramic cats in the various shops on this street. Each cat is a different size, different condition and different color. I found them all by chance. They are not always available so you just have to get lucky on a... More

Staying in Sheung Wan

Neighbourhood Profile
Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.
