The location of Chungking Mansion is excellent! There are many guesthouses/hostels inside with great competition between them. Therefore, the room prices are low (except for holidays). The currency exchange stores offer very good exchange rates. There’re some food shops there but they’re not my cup of tea. Don’t be scared by the people standing at the entrance. Don’t expect much on the room conditions also.

Note:
However, Chunking Mansion's reputation is poor and many travelers avoid it. Some operators take this opportunity and run youth hostels/guesthouses/hostels (with so-called dorms and private rooms) inside old “Mansions” in other areas (e.g. Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Jordan, Yau Ma Tei) but they're even much worse (especially 3-level bunks youth hostels in Wan Chai and Jordan area). Remember this and thank me later.

Chunking Mansion is one-half of the Chungking Express setting.
It is very different from what I saw in the movie haha. It is still a place where you can find mainly South Asian people there, but I don't think the shops selling fake goods are that many. Can also find halal South Asian food for cheap here.
Didn't stay in the building, just visited for money exchange and a light lunch.

By everything I mean rape, murder, drugs, prostitution and theft! Do yourself a favour and have a quick look through the chunking mansions Wikipedia page. If youve ever wondered what it was like too sleep in a crack den or brothel then here is the place for you.this place is an absolute hell hole. I'd feel safer sleeping on the streets then in this kip. If you do insist on sleeping here here's some things you might need:
-a weapon of some sorts for protection.
-a rake of alcohol to help you get through the night.
-haz-mat suit to sleep in.
-a stab vest.
-a rape whistle.
-something heavy to barricade the door in your room.

If hell exists , then I'd imagine it resembles something like Chungking mansions. I spent one night here and it will haunt me for the rest of my days.

While not an attraction we generally recommend to visitors, the Chung King Mansion is one of the best places in the city for you to exchange money for Hong Kong dollars. There is a collection of money changers on the ground floor as soon as you enter the Chung King Mansion from Nathan Road. They are open all day, seven days a week. Some are closed on Sunday but there are always a few open for business. Also, some remain open until the very late hours of the night, if required. There are additional forrex dealers found throughout the city with quite a few in the Mongkok, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Central area.

Other options for exchanging money in Hong Kong is to use your hotel. Many hotels (all of the major hotels) will provide foreign exchange services for you. However rates are usually not very good, similar to exchanging money at the Hong Kong International Airport. It is advised to change as little as possible in these locations and then take advantage of the better rates at the cities foreign exchange dealers or the city banks.

Also, almost all major bank service branches in Hong Kong will offer foreign exchange services. These include HSBC, Hang Seng, Standard Charter, Bank of China amongst many others. Rates are generally good for major currencies like the USD, GBP and AUD but not as good as what you can find at the Chung King Mansion. Plus, there is usually an exchange service fee of around HK$50 per exchange.

Lastly, ATM (cash point) machines which accept most international bank ATM and debit cards are scattered throughout the city and are not difficult to find. Just walk into the closest shopping mall, MTR station or bank and there you go. ATMs are also available at the ferry terminals and the airport. Do check with your bank at home before using as some banks issue high international ATM service charges while others don't. If the latter applies to you and your bank, this is probably the best way for you to obtain HKD money when arriving in Hong Kong.

A place where u can buy a needle to full suite, a micro SD to Iphone X , salt to full meal, anything on earth other than your mother and father

Rooms to stayover or for a quick nap

Bit strange place with mainly run by Indians, Pakistan and Nepalis also few blacks
Can call the underworld of HK

Stayed 6 nights but forfeited one night.

A last minute stopover in HK and found this place, it was promoted as an Australian Guest House, it couldn't be further from the truth.

It was so hard to find but when I eventually did I was met by gangs of Indians grabbing me trying to sell me CRAP like fake watches, nasty suits and drugs!

The place is a disgrace to the beautiful and vibrant Hong Kong city, the locals warned me to stay away, I wish I had that advice earlier.

The ground level is full of little shops, it is filthy, overcrowded and it stinks. The police were called there several times during my stay. They constantly fight among themselves, I do not consider this place safe at all. They appear to be very rude and disrespectful to people of Asian descent.

The elevators to the rooms are extremely slow and are always full with smelly people. The hallways are filthy and stink like you don't want to know. To my surprise my room was quite clean and housekeeping did an exceptional job.

At night I didn't go out as I didn't feel safe to do so as they hang out the front in gangs. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN HERE.

The only good thing about this place is the location, within walking distance to Star Ferry and the train stations.

The place should be demolished! I cannot believe this place has a high rating, it can't be true!

Overall rating: 1/10

We booked our stay here because the photos on their website were decent but it was definitely NOT a good representation of the truth. We arrived and were told that they were going to move us - we had initially booked 3 rooms, good for 3 people. They changed the one room to accommodate 6 but it by no means should have accommodated 6 of us. The room was incredibly tiny. Two double beds and extra mattresses that we were supposed to fit on the floor that was lacking space in itself. The bathroom was equally small - that is actually an understatement. The shower was above the toilet and the sink was right next to it. The bathroom couldn't have been more than 3x3 ft. On the first night, our friends (who were in the room for 6) complained to the owner that the AC wasn't working. He didn't provide any solutions or alternatives and pretty much told us to suck it up despite the fact that it wasn't what we paid for. He eventually gave them a small fan, after much screaming. When we came back on the second night I noticed that someone had cleaned up the room (taken out the trash and folded the blankets) despite not giving them any approval to come in to make the room. That upset me greatly but after the screaming match our friends had with the owner the night before I didn't feel like speaking to him about this would result in anything good. Other tenants were noisy too and you could hear everything as the walls were paper thin. On the second night, there was a screaming match again with someone else a few doors away at around midnight.
Another thing is when you walk into the building there are a bunch of people outside haranguing you about tours and hotels.
Staying here was definitely not a great experience and took a bit away from how much we enjoyed the rest of Hong Kong.
Would NOT recommend. I am sure there are better, safer and more affordable places to stay elsewhere.

We stayed in HK from 24-28th October 2013 at Harbour Guest House in 4th Floor,Block B and found Chung King Mansion was really good for us!!

FIRST,the location of Chung King Mansion is really perfect.
i) Tsim Sha Tsui(TST) MTR exit C is in front of iSquare which is across the road and they got pedestrian walk and Chung King Mansion is just in front of that pedestrian walk;next to Sasa signboard.
ii) If you use Cityflyer A21 bus from airport(or other bus) to come to Chung King Mansion, you just need to drop off at Middle Road point. Please be sure you already buy your Octopus Card at Arrival Terminal.
iii)To go to Ladies Market you can use Kowloon Motor Bus(KMB) No 1,1A,2,6 or 9.
iv)To go to Temple Street Night Market , use KMB Bus No 1,1A,2,6,7or 9 .we prefer Temple Street Night Market. Both offer souvenirs, handbag, t-shirt etc.
v) We went to Ocean Park using Citybus 973 and waited the bus at New World Centre point (near to Avenue of Stars).
vi) Avenue of Stars is just 5 mins walk and we had great time watching Symphony of Lights which started at 8pm.There is also ICC Light and Music Show at 7.30pm and 9.00pm and luckily, we were in ferry from Wan Chai to TST during that time and I kind of miss that experience. Riding the ferry is a must and its cheap; only HKD3.4. The Star Ferry Pier is near, you can either walk or use KMB Bus like us.
vii) There are lot shopping malls along Nathan Road i.e. Miramar,K11 Art Mall etc.
viii) We went to ICC by using bus and waited at New China Hong Kong City point so we walked crossing the Kowloon Park. The park is nice and beautiful.
ix) We also spent time at Sogo and Times Square in Causeway Bay and you can just use MTR to go on the Hong Kong island side. The price is really expensive and I think its better for me to shop in Malaysia. And Sogo in HK is unlike Sogo in Malaysia.

SECOND, the room was clean and very small but it seems the small size is standard in HK. Hot shower and aircond was well functioned and the staff was friendly. The place was secure and you can place your luggage under the bed.The bed size was not the standard queen size but its ok for us since we were both slim. For muslim to pray in the room, you need to use space in front of room door and its hardly convenient but no worries, you can opt for nearby Kowloon Mosque which is next to Tsim Sha Tsui(TST) MTR Exit A.Chung King Mansion got 5 blocks and every block got their own elevator. You need to queue to take the lift and sometimes the queue was long and it took about 15 minutes to get your turn. But its ok since we got private bathroom at cheap price.

THIRD, i) Halal Food was everywhere in this Chungking Mansion. We bought at Wakas Mess which is also at 4th Floor, Block B and ordered Briyani Chicken with rice. The portion was huge enough for 2pax of Malaysian like us and the price was HKD60/briyani. ii) We also had dinner at Islamic Centre Canteen at Wan Chai and we can get the meal at HKD30/meal.If you plan to have dimsum there, please take note that they only serve it is from 10am to 3pm.

FOURTH Even though bus fare for short distance ride is about the same with MTR fare, we often used bus to move around to have great view of the city. This went well for us since we already studied the map and have basic understanding of the bus network. Please take note that the fare is calculated when you swipe during check-in the bus and no need to swipe when you check out from the bus., its unnecessarily the price is cheaper if you just ride for one stop.

I can't believe what i have just booked. I didn't expect this. It was a terrible experience staying at hotel/hostel/apartment. The room has no space, only the bed itself fits the room. Cleanliness is horrible, Cr is to small. When i say small too tight, you can't even turn around or move. Suffocating room because too tiny and has no window. Indian staff is so rude and disturbing, they didn't check reservation and bothering tenants at the middle of night sleeping. Not to recommend at all. thumbs down for this.
