MacLehose trail was the first trail under a personal name to favor the late Lord MacLehose who was the 25th Governor of HK (the name before 1st July 1997). The trail have 10 sectors with different degree of difficulties. The most difficult is the 4th section which is 12.7km. I jogged part of the 5th and then 4th starting from... More

MacLehose Trail is famous to hiking lovers. No matter no1, or to 10. You can satisfy your physical and spirit. What you should care maybe there is no restroom available in most cases. Of course no snacks selling. Help yourself. BYOFood and drink loo.

We went there on action Asia 50 km trial race, started in Pek Tam Chung and walk all the way thru the trail. I must say some of the sights are really beautiful, can't imagine I am in a busy city like Hong Kong. Be prepared with lots of water and some snacks as you may not have many chances... More

This hike is great. From the moment we started there were just amazing views. I think it took us around 2.5 to 3. It was tough on the uphill sections but easy enough for semi experienced hikers. We got down to Sai Wan beach, had some food and drinks, then walked 15 minutes to a waterfall where people were jumping... More

After reading an inspiring article from Lonely planet (Dragon’s back and beyond: the best hikes in Hong Kong) we were inspired to try some of the hikes in Hong Kong. We did section 5 of the Maclehose Trail. The trail is very interesting, often passing through dense forest which provides shade, which can be nice on warm days. Whenever the vegetation’s... More

We completed parts 1 & 2 of this hike, and it is definitely something we'll do again. We did part 1 and half of part 2 the first day, camped out at the beach and finished section two the next day. It was awesome being able to just camp out at the beach after a long day of hiking. The... More

This MacLehose Trail is named after one of the British governor Sir MacLehose back in the colonial era. It is 100km long, runs from East to West, and is split into 10 sections. Each section has its own unique view. If you are a nature lover and is fit, you can conquer it in a week. Best time to do... More

East - west, 100 km across the New Territories. Up and down hills, Splendid views. Really energetic, but it can be done in any number of the 10 stages. Two is enough for a weekend hike !

I found about this trail through one of my acquaintances from the mainland. I'm glad she suggested this to me because I went with my friend and we were in awe. We only did part 1 and part of 2 to see Long Ke beach. I plan to go back and see other parts of the trail. I strongly suggest... More

Went for an amazing day trip with a friend. We found excellent views of the Hong Kong skyline, yet still felt absorbed by the jungle at times. The paths are natural but easy to walk on, no advanced hiking equipment needed. Also saw a lot of monkeys, which was fun (do not feed the monkeys, it's illegal). You absolutely do... More
