After half an hour by boat we arrived at Mui Wo. Walking around there is the beach, very quiet and perfect in a way, through the village street with small eateries and village houses. Passing the monastery we walked to the waterfall. A really nice trail. And there are so many hikers. Great scenic view.

Step off the ferry and feel the pace of life plummet. A pleasant curve of sand fringes the coastline, the village restaurants offer decent food at decent prices and you may decide never to leave. Walking trails are clearly signposted and the local waterfall is a charming must see.

Mui Wo is a small, quaint town and you can reach it by bus, ferry or even a hiking trail from Discovery Bay. The restaurants are tiny but there is plenty of good food. It is a great pity that all the town businesses use the waterside parking area to park their delivery trucks for the weekend which completely obscures... More

Well we went to mui Wo to see the silver mine waterfall and it was a short walk to the fall and it was pretty nice. The walk there had some nice scenery. Mui Wo is built for summer and hence we were there in January the town was rather empty. A summer day this is the perfect get away... More

If you're only transitting in HK, and you've already seen the 'main' sights of Kowloon/Central, stayhing on Lantau Is (where the airport is), is a great option. Mui Wo is hardly more than a village, but it's the 'capital' of Lantau. You can relax on Silvermine Beach (the resort hotel is modest but comfortable), eat and drink Western-style at the... More

Start with a pint at the China Bear pub by the ferry, grab some great seafood in the cooked market - where you are over the sea with fans etc - the middle restaurant is v good but I don't know the name. Can even get decent wine! There are barbeque pits if you want to self cater at the... More

After visiting Tai O we took the number 1 bus which brings you across the island to many quiet sandy beaches that you can stop off at and eventually to Mui Wo. We didn't go to the beach here but caught the ferry back to Central (about 1 hour) a cheap way to see many ofthesmallerislands.

Ok, I went there when there was an amber rain warning, so what did i expect, but to get wet - ha ha. The place is brilliant though, I had 8 hours to kill at the airport and having been to Hong Kong quite a few times, didnt want to do the usual kowloon, central thing. So, quick Lantau taxi... More

Short and cheap ferry crossing from Discovery Bay on a "phut phut" ferry. Some nice choices for lunch. Small but clean beach. Good place for small boys to let off steam and dig holes.

I did try to enjoy the place after arriving by bus from the big Buddha and let the ferry back go to have 2 hours to explore a bit. I headed for the beach that was visible but there is so much seafront building work going on I gave up. I am sure it will look better when it's finished... More
