- Chris BStevenage, United Kingdom212 contributionsA relaxing store with stars and sea views.Walked along the avenue on a Saturday and Sunday with Sunday a lot busier. The crowds weren't oppressive in either case and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The idea of having the stars handprints on a railing along with a short description of each was useful. As with most of Hong Kong everything was clean and well maintained. The view across the bay and out to sea is also worthwhile.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 October 2023
- Dan LBunbury, Australia8,536 contributionsExtensive & Interesting.Interesting concept with the handprints but didn't recognise any of the names sighted. Most of the enthusiastic reactions came from locals or those familiar with the names. The statue of Bruce Lee was a highlight, enjoyed watching many of his martial arts movies and exploits in my younger days. Nice statue of Anita Mui, regarded as a superstar singer and actress throughout Chinese communities. Enjoyed the fun statue of the gold piglet, McDull.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 December 2023

We had dinner at Outback restaurant in East TST and walked along here to watch the Symphony of Lights show (see my separate reviews). There is some seating along here for those needing a rest or seating for the show at night. The walkways are wide and clean. There are things to see like statues and homages paid to famous Chinese and HK celebraties like Bruce Lee. Take time to look at these as well as admiring the amazing views of the skyscrapers across the water on HK island, as well as watching the Chinese junk, ferries and cruise ships pass by. Enjoy.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 February 2024
- Czar EmmanuelManila, Philippines10,248 contributionsLovely promenadeThis is definitely one of the famous and popular tourist destinations in Hong Kong. It's a long stretch that runs along Victoria Harbour, giving you a wonderful view of the Hong Kong skyline across the harbor and of shopping malls, museums and hotels on the other. You'll also see metal handprints of famous Chinese stars here (like Jackie Chan and Jet Li). At night, you can catch a glimpse of the amazing "Symphony of Lights" where the skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island simultaneously turn on their lights and make them dance to the sound of a music.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 April 2024

It's a shame that it is always full of people, especially at 8 pm when there is a small light and sound show (not very interesting) It's worth it for the extraordinary views of Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour. If you can, make two visits, one at night and one during the day.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 April 2024

Avenue of Stars is originally modelled on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and many of the Hong Kong’s entertainment stars are immortalised through their handprints and statues. The promenade was crowded when we visited, some sitting on the benches chatting while others were taking the obligatory photographs and soaking in the atmosphere. Thanks to the refurbishment, they could've gone the other way and make it better than LA's walk of fame but instead they took all what was wrong with LA and made it more congested and commercial.
Especially the Bruce Lee. His statue used to be further down the waterfront away from the crowds but now they've installed it right outside the station next to coffee shop. Like HK wasn't crowded enough already.
Bruce Lee was my childhood hero and Hong Kong's biggest star ever. His monument deserves a better higher place than this out of station walk of shame.

Visiting the Avenue of the Stars in Hong Kong was a memorable experience for my family and me. This iconic promenade, dedicated to honoring the contributions of the Hong Kong film industry, provided us with a perfect blend of culture, stunning views, and family fun.
Arrival and Atmosphere
As we arrived at the Avenue of the Stars, we were greeted by a vibrant atmosphere. The promenade is beautifully located along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, offering breathtaking views of the Victoria Harbour and the impressive skyline of Hong Kong Island. The lively energy of the area was palpable, with tourists and locals alike enjoying the scenery.
Highlights
Celebrity Handprints: One of the first things we noticed was the series of handprints and plaques honoring famous Hong Kong actors and filmmakers. It was exciting for my family to pose next to the handprints of stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. It was a fun way for us to connect with the film industry and learn more about its history.
Stunning Views: The panoramic views of the harbor were simply breathtaking. We took our time to soak in the sights, snapping photos and enjoying the gentle sea breeze. As the sun began to set, the skyline transformed into a magical scene with lights twinkling against the backdrop of the darkening sky.
Cultural Exhibits: Along the promenade, there were several informative displays about Hong Kong cinema. We appreciated the chance to learn about the rich history of the local film industry and its impact on global cinema. It sparked interesting discussions among us about our favorite movies and actors.
A Family-Friendly Environment: The Avenue of the Stars is a great place for families. There were plenty of benches and open spaces where children could run around. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll, stopping to take pictures and watch the ferries glide across the harbor.
Evening Show
One of the highlights of our visit was timing our trip to coincide with the Symphony of Lights show, which takes place every evening. As the buildings across the harbor lit up with colorful lights and the music filled the air, we found ourselves captivated. It was a fantastic way to end our evening at the Avenue of the Stars.
Conclusion
Overall, visiting the Avenue of the Stars was a delightful experience for my family and me. The combination of cultural insights, stunning views, and family-friendly activities made it a highlight of our trip to Hong Kong. If you find yourself in the city, this is definitely a place worth visiting, whether you're a film buff or simply looking to enjoy the beautiful waterfront. We left with wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation for Hong Kong's cinematic heritage.

As a venue to showcase the Hong Kong film industry, the Avenue of Stars is just so so. Bruce Lee is rightfully honored here with a statue, but Anita Mui which was the only other celebrity honored with a statue, was relatively unknown outside Hong Kong. The bannister next to the waterfront lining the Avenue of Stars was covered with handprints of movie stars from Hong Kong, or just short biographies where handprints were not available. Visually it is lackluster. But the place is worth visiting for a different reason. It offers a gorgeous view of the Victoria Habor. So come here for the view, with the statues and handprints of celebrities thrown in as a bonus.

On weekend evenings, Avenue of Stars at dusk is very crowded. A group of people wearing matching red and yellow hats were marching in a sloppy procession, and a commemorative photo competition was held with Victoria Bay in the background. I wanted to wander from the clock tower to the Brucely statue, but I gave up on the idea because the walk, stitching through people, was going to take a lot of time and I was going to get separated from my companion.
Then we took the camera to take a commemorative picture ... but we left early in a state of disorder, being pushed across the street without any hesitation, or barging into the wall without hesitation.
