Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well, we were fortunate to visit just after some national festival, so the square was still very beautifully decorated, and there were "structures" used in the celebration on display.
Tip: Not an activity for a rainy day. Many other places to visit around, including the Museum.

During our weekday walks through the square, it was not overly crowded. Some people seemed to be sitting for a rest, while others were eating or drinking.

Chongqing People's Square separates the Great Hall of the People at one end from the 3 Gorges Museum at the other end. The museum is worth a visit for an hour, but older visitors be warned, be warned from the square there are a lot of steps and a lot of hawkers pushing their souvenirs. If visiting Chongqing for a short period of time this is a tourist stop but I recommend having a tour guide/driver who will be able to direct you to see it as easily as possible (by dropping you at one end and picking up at the other end). See separate review of 3 Gorges Museum.

The CQ People's Square and Hall is directly opposite the Three Gorges Museum and is very easy to visit via Metro Line#2 (Green) (metro station: Zengiayan). A great place to meet friends or have lunch.

A beautiful combination of icon buildings. People in this plaza were so proud of it. It was dressed up for the 70th anniversary.

Not much to say; there are a few kiosk type business selling trinkets and toys. I wouldn't go here just to see this, but would walk around after visiting the Three Gorges Museum. I went during the day, so would probably go at night for the lights and probably more people there.
I would say you might want to go to the Walmart right around the corner as they have some fresh food items you won't see at a USA Walmart.

This was a well used people's space with dance groups and Tai Chi groups around the Square. Easy to get to using the subway. Opposite the museum (well worth the visit). We were a little annoyed with ladies trying to sell toys and when we said no they "flew" the toys across in front of us. Very clean.

A huge square, full of people, with beautiful architecture adjacent it. The traditional Great Hall of the People is on one side, and the Three Gorges Museum (on the opposite side). The square comes alive at 6pm, with locals roller skating, playing with their dogs, children with their hoops and the adults doing everything from ballroom dancing to Tai Chi. At night you don’t want to miss the light and water show. Heavy security and its not uncommon to see police chasing vendors away.

For those who have followed my reviews from our Emperor Tours Luxury 21 day tour, we disembarked from our ship the Yangste Legend at Chongqing, having arrived at this city at 8.00am. Between 30-38 million people live here (I've seen various numbers, so not quite sure the exact number - but that's about half of England's population, I believe). It's a mind blowing metropolis.
Our personal guide and driver took us to the People's Square, where people just dance the morning away, amongst other activities. My wife got talking (body language) to two old dears, one was 87, the other 92. What a humbling experience, very spiritual.
Also, groups were doing Tai Chi, my wife and I just wandered round the square totally transfixed. Just do it, fantastic experience.

We went in the afternoon to while away our time. There were not as many people considering it was a working day. As you walk towards the three gorges museum, You would know you are in a favorite spot of mothers airing their babies, from the stench of urine in the area. In china, babies have slits on their pants bottoms , so when their kids pee or move their bowels, the mommies just hold their kids in a squatting position and let the baby do his/her thing without removing their pants!!! I saw a mommy holding a baby who was defecating onto a piece of paper ! And a toilet was just nearby ! I suppose this must be the Chinese custom because I see this kind of thing even in malls !
