About
UCCA was founded in 2007 by Guy and Miriam Ullens as the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art. In 2017, it evolved into the UCCA Group, under the ownership and stewardship of a new group of patrons and shareholders. Committed to the belief that art can deepen lives and transcend boundaries, UCCA presents a wide range of exhibitions, public programs, and research initiatives to a public of more than one million visitors each year.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place always updates their exhibitions, I just visited there to see an exhibition named: Elizabeth Peyton: Practice. It shows many paintings and those eyes are truly the spirit of those paintings.

Made a special trip out to the 798 Art District - a long way out on the Metro. We went to the UCCA and discovered the Sarah Morris exhibition. Without doubt, one of the best exhibitions we had ever been to. We only had a few hours and regretted leaving - we could have spent all day there. Other exhibitions were OK but this was amazing. It was worth the trip.

The UCCA is the reason why I wanted to visit the Art District
I was advised not to go since it became touristy but luckily I followed my intuition. Really liked the place and yes if something is good tourists will eventually come...
There was an excellent exhibition from Zhoa Bandi. I loved his universe and sense of irony. Very interesting, Can't thank enough the Ullens family for what they have done for the Chinese art scene this was probably the best moment ( OK with the Great Wall!) of our visit to Beijing. Highly recommend

We were very much looking forward to visiting the Artzone and especially UCCA during our China Trip at the beginning of May. There was only one exhibition ongoing (which was not our taste) and we had to pay CNY 100 each which we thought was pretty steep. Despite almost everything else in China, there is no pensioner discount.
The vibrant atmosphere we expected was not there.

It looks like the Artzone 798 will be closed soon as a lot of shops and galleries were closed.

I've been to the UCCA twice, once two years ago and more recently this past weekend. Both times I've been extremely impressed with the exhibits and the fun items in the gift shop. This time, I especially enjoyed the Sam Hsieh performance piece. Everything is well organized and many of the pieces offer a plaque with some sort of background or description to optimize the experience.

It's not a huge museum and you should be able to get through it in about 1-2 hours. Definitely worth a visit if you are at 798.

Also, with a student ID admission is free but even without, entrance will only set you back 10RMB.

Set in the middle of the trendy 798 area, the building itself is worth
the visit. The design by a renowned French architect brings light and freshness into this 1950s industrial building. For all architecture buffs, UCCA is certainly worth the visit.

Now if you're interested in or passionate about Chinese contemporary art, this is certainly a must see during your visit. The show now running is called 85 New Wave and explores the origins of the contemporary art in China. It was really amazing to see such a exciting exhibition. It's extremely well documented. You can feel they
made a tremendous research work.

The UCCA definitely shines out in the middle of the numerous galleries
that flourish in the 798. These galleries often call themselves art centers but should not be mistaken with the UCCA which truly exhales the qualities of a international class museum (diversity of program, underlying research, great presentation of the art).

A must see if you you want to see what today's China has to offer in terms of culture !! Next time I'm in Beijing I'll come see their next shows for sure.

I believe the art park is far more interesting than the museum per se.

I visited the museum for which the was a nominal admission fee. It was a series of videos by different artists expounding AV interpretation of the circumstances and possible outcomes I watched, but it not appeal to me.

Nearby are a wonderful selection of shops selling art and restaurants. Sculptures abound and are decorative and thought Provoking.

Enjoyed my visit.

I saw interesting exhibitions of contemporary Indian artists and a few Chinese photographers. The curators had chosen striking pieces that really stayed with me and made me think (as well as smile).

Occupying one of the biggest spaces in the complex, visit to the UCCA (Center for Contemporary Art) seemed like a sure thing. Its temporary exhibition Society Guidance: Part II, occupying two rooms, would be all that was accessible with the steep admission. Almost seemed borderline unethical to charge full price when more than half of the museum was under renovation or closed off. The exhibition which focuses on 1990's art, as the public’s awareness of the rest of the world increased with the introduction of internet, was quite interesting but it took less than a half hour to check out thoroughly. After this visit, I was reluctant to visit other galleries that charged more than a couple of dollars.

This is the second time I have been to an exhibition at the UCCA. The first time was by accident as was wandering past and it looked interesting. This time was specifically to see the amazing maps of Qiu Zhijie. Both times were amazing visits and I will now be making regular trips to UCCA to see other exhibitions. The venue is a great size and set out well for the different exhibitions. Facilities in the venue are good and the staff are very helpful within the art space. Well worth the price of admission.
