The museum is in a spectacular space, easy to get to, and everything is well displayed. Mostly local stuff and not much that I found to be really unique. It looked to me to be a showplace set up for the Olympics.

It's a short subway journey alone line 1. Entry is free but take a passport. Officially they ask you to book in advance but we turned up unannounced and had no problems... More

In my opinion, the Capital Museum is the best museum in Beijing, it also certainly the most modern having been completed in time for the 2008 Olympics. The focus of this museum is largely the history and folk culture of Beijing but it also houses many artifacts formerly housed at the National Museum (a museum I would recommend missing). The... Very modern museum. Second best in China. You can easily spend 2 hours when visit west of Beijing. I've been there more than 5 times and still enjoy every single visit

Although a bit dry for those not inclined towards architecture, this will be the highlight of any museum visit in Beijing for those who are... Incredibly well thought, well designed and altogether fascinating...

This is a great place to spend a few hours and learn about the history of Beijing. We started on the top floor and worked our way down. They have an amazing collection of historical artifacts. The building is massive with great architectural features. It’s free but you do need bring your passport. It is definitely worth a visit.
