    Upscale Shopping Street
We walked around Wangfujing after having roast duck at the famous Quanjude store nearby. This is a shopping street with upscale brands, and perhaps way beyond the shopping budget of the average traveller. Pavements were wide and clean, and on the Sunday we visited, there were several street performances going on. A relaxing stroll, but I wouldn’t go out of the way to visit again.

To see the modern side of Beijing
I would say Wangfujing street is the Times Square of Beijing. As you walk down this pedestrian street you see big brands and designer clothes, something a little different to much of the little stalls and markets you find in Beijing. It is a mix of brands you’ve heard of and Chinese brands that are popular amongst locals. There are huge screens showing adverts on various buildings, mixed in with some traditional Chinese architecture. There are various food vendors selling things like ice cream and candy which are a treat. The area itself is more upmarket so goods are a little bit pricier, though still not massively expensive. It’s a nice atmosphere and everyone is really laid back. We ate at a little dim sum restaurant on the street and it was delightful. PS - Wangfujing ‘Snack’ Street is CLOSED. We ventured down its original alleyway to find no street food, only to find souvenir stalls.

    Commercial Centre
The widest pedestrian street in china, and the main place to sort all your retail shopping demands. Theres a wide number of international malls with dining options but I thought there was a lack of street vendor outlets compared to other Tier one city pedestrian streets. Still highly recommended

This area is home to a few very nice malls and is surrounded by higher end hotels. Lots of dining options and shops for all kinds of budgets. As of December 2020 it is hard to find mall open mall entrances and a health code and temperature check is a must at most. The malls are very clean and bright as well.

We really enjoyed our time shopping and taking photos with the natives. The majority of the children spoke English and weren't afraid to speak with you. If we had more time I would have loved to have spent a day with one of the natives. Other than invading my personal space I didn't have any problems.

This was dubbed as the most popular shopping street but we were so disappointed when we got here. It's a huge and wide street but so empty with no street activities. There used to be a street market or sorts but it is cleared now, in place is a small food court that has some street food options that didn't really piqued our interests. They are all international brands here, price-wise they are not any cheaper than our home country. We entered some malls and they are quite empty as well, and shops are mostly closed by 930pm. A disappointing visit that we will not recommend and be back for.

This could be a street anywhere in the world. Only a few spots have any Chinese character to them and everything is expensive. Better to visit the food street behind the shopping street. It’s also touristy, but it’s colorful and the food offerings are unusual and tasty.

Overall, I don’t think that there is anything particularly special about this street.

One can find all the brands, as well as many shopping malls within.

I wouldn’t say that this is an absolute must - if you are stressed for time, don’t put it at the top of your list, as the food mall is currently closed. Otherwise, if you have the time, it is accessible from the Forbidden City.

After our Forbidden City tour, we took the Wangfujing exit. We had our lunch at Beijing Pie restaurant. It was really cozy and affordable restaurant. We love the meat pie and jajang noodles.

On our way to the subway, there are a lot of hutongs and souvenir shops along the way.

I highly recommend a visit to Wangfujing for food trip after your Forbidden city tour.

Although one of the most famous shopping streets in Beijing, we were not that impressed with Wangfujing street. Compared to similar places in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, etc. this scores less in terms of charm and content.

An ok place, depending on what you are after. Full shopping centres with lots of big brands, some Chinese tea shops. An amazing foreign bookstore - probably the best part of the street! Nice to spend an afternoon on this street walking round, but a bit too western for me!

I come here mainly to enjoy the walk, do a little shopping, and duck into a mall at the southerly end of the street. Of the street’s 1.5 kilometre length, about half is a pedestrians only section, although there are some service vehicles and the like which drive at low speeds. On this walk, I especially liked the cow statues in about the middle section of the pedestrian street.

A portion of this wide street is a pedestrian shopping street, albeit, there are a few service vehicles which use the street. It is an interesting mix of retailers, but not any evident theme which brings them together. I walked it more out of interest, than A desire to shop here.
