I believe this is one of the largest, if not THE largest structure in the Forbidden City. Considering the size, I found it incredible that it is constructed completely of wood.

There is so much to see here so you would be well advised to allow lots of time to tour the whole area.

Part of my forbidden city tour. A lovely palace - but there are a number of other similar buildings also. A must-see experience.

So much history ... such a beautiful place. Although it was a bit crowded, there was still plenty of space and room to walk and explore.

The hall of supreme harmony is one of the largest wooden structures in China. I found it to be the most striking building inside the forbidden city.

You can’t enter but the real beauty of the place is the exterior which has been repainted for the Olympics. Seen on the walking tour through the Forbidden City.
