Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very large shopping complex. Opposite to this there is another mall. There are plenty of shops- mainly fashion. The sport shops into which we have entered were disappointing. Very limited range of model (like in Adidas and Nike). The only advantage I'd like to highlight is that the Xidan mall offers brand shops where most of the merchandise is authentic and true to its brand, and unlike the opposite mall.
We ended up leaving without buying anything.
You can get lost easily- quite a large mall.

Conveniently located on the Beijing underground line. Notable shops/cafes - H&M, Zara, Victoria's Secret & Star Bucks can be found here. Very popular with locals as queues built up infront of the shops before opening time, 10am local time. Public toilets not so great.

Stretching from the Xinhua Bookstore on the edge of Tiananmen Square, there are around 10 malls in the area, featuring things from handphones to clothes to accessories, both branded and unbranded. For the slightly upmarket version, go to Joy City, which also has several levels of restaurants, as well as a cinema. You can also find the usual mix of shops, including Zara, H&M and Watsons.
We ate lunch at a popular Taiwanese restaurant on the fourth floor (name translates in English to Happy Dragons), next to the China Mobile shop. It's very popular and relatively cheap, and we had to wait around 20 minutes to get a table.

We went there before christmas, there was such a happy, festive mood around the place, with seasonal songs blasting from the surround speakers . The adjoining malls like Joycity have good food courts and nice coffee shops to hang around.

One of the biggest shopping and commercial districts in Beijing, it is located West of Tiananmen, mirroring Wanfujing which is on its Eastern side. It has many big shopping malls, outdoor markets, restaurants and entertainment centers and is more popular among the locals as it is cheaper than Wanfujing. A good area to shop and savour the many restaurants here.

This area has low to mid-range stuffs. There are many shopping complexes around.
However, I only went to Joy City.
Slightly mid market shopping here with some Chinese, Western and Asian brands but the layout of the mall is definitely confusing even though it had 10 floors of shopping area.
Overall, don't enjoy it very much. I only have about 2 hours, so cannot fully explore other shopping complexes within the area. For guys, will probably need about half a day to explore this shopping area (not Joy City alone). For ladies, it depends.

A large building filled with many many small individual shops selling primarily clothes. Overwhelming in that there didn't seem to be much reason to the layout and no-one speaking any English to help you. The Center sits on a main road where some of the big high street names can be found. If you are looking for a market atmosphere this definitely isn't it!

We were in the areas so we ventured in. It reminded me of a swap meet actually. There aren’t many western brands and the place is a typical lower end Chinese mall. There is cheap food in the higher floors but it’s not great. The lower floors have mostly Chinese brands and perhaps knock offs. The first floor has local candy and souvenirs. If it’s your first mall in Xidan it might be ok but certainly not after you visit the higher end malls.

Its located in a inner city and there a number of tourist around. The shops are extensive and even the surrounding area has alot to offer. I loved the big square across from the mall. You can just sit there and relax while you watch people passing by.
