Layover Tour

Beautiful part of The Great Wall to visit. A little expensive if your in a big group as there is a shuttle bus and tram fee to pay.

On a private tour we got to the Wall early to beat the rush of the tour buses. That is the way to do it then you can have sections of the Wall almost all to your selves. We took the cable car (cabins) up and down the Wall. Very safe and comfortable way to do it. There are also... More

This location is not as busy as other locations and is about an hour and a half to two hours out of Beijing. The Wall is on the top of a 1,000 meter foothills. So, the cable car or chair lift were well worth the money. You want to save your energy for the Wall itself. This section of the... More

I have been to the Grade Wall a few times, once to Badaling and now twice to Mutianyu. I have to say I like both of them. Both of my other visits were in the summer when it was hot and humid, somewhat hazy, and overrun with tourists. This time I visited in November, with crisp, clear air and spectacular... More

Arranged a tour through a guide company from tripadvisor and it was amazing. Went to the least busiest area which was perfect. Wall is amazing and history unbelievable. Would recommend to everyone but remember that there is a lot of climbing and steep stairs involved. Ride the toboggan run down to the bottom afterwards

Wondering how their work to made this wall about times, cost, life they spend for it. things that become our regret is the very bad air polution all around china recently and also the public toilets condition.

Hardly anyone there! Great area to get a good understanding of the history away from the crowds. We took the chairlift up and luged down - great fun!

It's a bit of "China-grandiose-achievement meet Disneyland". The interesting part The wall stretches up and down the hills with a mind blogging vantage positioning all along. That means to build over the steepest part and tops of the hills (your legs may feel shaky if you take a long tour). The downside It's all fake. Not a single stone is... More

Unlike other parts of the Great Wall, this one hardly had any tourists when we went in the morning hours. Otherwise it gets crowded in day time during peak tourist season. And then you will be disappointed to find the "Great Wall of People"! Its close to a small forested area which makes the place very beautiful.
