A real world wonder!!!!! Nice place to visit - however be ready for tough climbs & descents. We were there last Wednesday and it was really hot but we really enjoyed it.

Impressive construction. Even though the tour take some hours from the center of Beijing, it was worth spending the time. We walked between tour 11 and 22, which was a beautiful walk, with a lovely view of mountains and valleys.

As everyone else, opted to visit the wall. And it was in interesting experience. Makes you think of the enormous effort put into building it and the lives lost. What I did not think about is how hot it is going to get. Ended up almost fainting. Other visitors were super helpful.

If your in China and in Beijing i guess its a must see ... Its not that far from the city and well worth the trip . We found it easier going by taxi than bartering with the dodgy bus company . ( Beware )

If you visit China be certain to include the Great Wall at Mutianyu - a less crowded less tourist site worth the 2 hr. bus ride. Trip Advisor writers got it right when rating this #7 of all global "favorite landmarks." This is history hands-on - every stone, every steep step, every new vista beyond the next stone tower. 2-3... Amazing worth every minute.. My advice pay for the bus up and the cable car up.. save your energy and legs for walking the wall itself.. there was a lot of very tired people on the wall wishing they did and didn't walk much of the wall itself. Ps yes we took our 4 month old baby and it's easy... More

Mutianyu Great Wall is a nice stretch off the beaten (Badaling) path, although with the giant visitor center they have built in the last years it would appear to become more touristy. It is nicely renovated and saves you the climb by one of two cable car services. Note that the two cable cars are operated by different companies; the... More

Our trip here was short but sweet. We took the gondola up and back down again which was a great option for those who may have difficulty with the 45 minute hike up to the wall. We had been told by our hotel that this area of the wall would have fewer tourists but to expect it to be busy... More

We Used Catherine Lu's Tours. this included a pick up from our hotel. We caught the chair lift up and Toboggan down. An amazing experience from start to finish. This included a authentic lunch at a local Chinese restaurant which was a delicious break.
