Need to show ID such as passport. Cannot take camera. If you have a camera they will not let you enter. There is a queue for the security check

I've seen queues to Mao's mausoleum snake hundreds of metres. Today at around 8.15am I joined a very short queue, turned my phone off and went straight through. You have to empty your pockets at the entrance, but it is very quick. Very sensible as...More

This was a nice activity, however the queues are long and you can't take any bags in (even if they are slim and don't have anything in them) as a consequence it was pretty inconvenient as we had to split our tiny group of 3...More

Worth a look if you're up early enough and like queuing. Entry is free but you pay for bag storage and additional for camera storage so best to just take a wallet in a zippy pocket.

I had read a lot of reviews on TripAdvisor that talk about going early in the morning and having to push and shove in the queue for hours. You don't need to do this. I showed up on a Tuesday morning at 11.30, which is...More

We visited the Hall one Wednesday morning during a week-long trip to Beijing. After reading that you needed to get there early, we arrived at 9 am, an hour after it opened, to see a huge huge huge line of people. Since the weather was...More
