We visited that place about a week ago, I am a jazz lover, found this bar by chance walking around the famous houhai area. Just want to repeat and briefly confirm what so many people said before: 1, Perfect jazz venue and music, 2, no cover and reasonably priced drinks, 3, nice atmosphere, great for dates/couples. The band starts play... More

Amazing bar, great cocktails and hot chocolate. Usually they have bands playing every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I go there almost every week and have never been disappointed! Worth the visit.

It was the second time visiting East shore jazz cafe after a few years, and it still wowed me as the very first time. Quietly tucked in the corner around the Houhai lake, a very narrow dark stairs would lead to the cafe on the second floor. Usually the place is full with jazz lovers. The night we went this... More

My friend from Manila was visiting and I invited two fellow musicians from Beijing. We all met at the East Coast jazz club. It is a small, intimate club, seats maybe 30. No cover, drinks are reasonable. Bar food available. This night, the club pianist, who simply goes by Moreno, had bass and drums accompanying him. The drummer was Cuban... More

Bar none the best place to go for consistently great Jazz in Beijing. There is no cover, and the drinks are standard for the Houhai area, which means still a bit pricey compared to other places in Beijing. But really, this place is all about the music. The stage is acoustically set up to provide a great sound throughout the... More

On a nice evening in Beijing, Houhai Lake makes for a great evening. Try strolling right around the lake if you can - there are so many cafes, bars, excellent restaurants, and live music venues that its almost impossible to make it without stopping a number of times. East Shore Jazz Cafe is on the quiet side, and has a... More

My wife and I visited here on Sunday last week. The location is very good with views out over the lake. It's nice and cosy, with candles lighting the tables and couples/small groups attentively listening to the music (unfortunately when we went there was a larger louder group who didn't help the atmosphere). I would go again but not on... More

There are tons cultural icons in Beijing, and at the end of each day you are going to be tired/in need of a good drink and a place to relax. This is that place. Unequivocally the highlight of my trip. Pair a visit to this famous cafe with a night stroll around the lake, grab some food around the way... More

Absolutely brilliant jazz club in on the Shore of Houhai Lake. Great and reasonably priced drinks, super friendly staff and best of all real high quality live jazz. The night we went there was no door charge. I think live music is only Thurs - Sun but check with the venue. Highly recommend a visit to this live jazz bar.... More

If you appreciate great jazz, you must visit this place. But is right on a beautiful lake and has great beer at reasonable prices.
