This part of the wall is beautiful and the best part is that you will not be bothered by annoying tourists shoving umbrellas in your face and pushing you around. I hiked the coiled dragon loop and it took me about 4 hours. However I...More

What an amazing place ! You know it’s gonna be huge but when you see it, walk on it, realize how old it is and hard to climb, this is more than AMAZING ! One of the most impressive place I have ever done. I...More

We stayed in Gubeikou for two days and did two treks, the coiled dragon loop (circa 2.5 hours around Gubeikou) and the longer 6 hour hike to Jingshanling. Absolutely great seeing the wall in (nearly) its raw state with great views of the mountains and...More

If you haven't gone to the Great Wall of China, you must. The steps are uneven and steep but the experience is like no other. The crowds were moderate and the views were great despite the smog.

One of the more interesting section of the wall. Would love to visit the entire length if staying longer.

One of the more challenging sections as it's falling down in several parts, overgrown in others, and with nothing in the way of side walls and spiky foliage on the surface, it's often a test for those with a fear of heights. Despite that, the...More

We decided to see the great wall of China from Gubeikou to Jinshanling using the Lonely Planet book as our guide. We followed some of their advise and also found a Trip Advisor article. However, we felt like we definitely would’ve done things differently if...More
