Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Definitely worth the 10 rmb to go inside to see all the jewelry

The 9 dragon screen wall is also here.

If you don't come see this section in the Forbidden City you'll missing out on 1/4 of what you should see in the forbidden city.

Summary-
Museum is on the east side of the forbidden city inside.
The glass kind of makes pictures of the jewelry blurry, I found that if you use your iphone and push it against the glass to take a picture you'll get a better picture.

If you are already going to the Forbidden City, for a little extra you can avoid the serious crowds and tour the Antiquarium. Lots of displays of Royal treasures from the palace:- ornaments, china, furniture including the special 9 Dragons Screen, amazing outfits etc. It's a mini museum within a museum. It houses many Royal items too many to list. Well worth the extra money. Recommended.

There are a lot of beautiful displays here including gold ornaments, royal furniture, outfits, and all sorts of beautiful stuff. I loved it. My wife is not so interested in museums, so she found it a bit boring. If you are more interested in the architecture of the Palace Museum, you could skip this section as it is an extra admission. If you love displays of treasure, however, enjoy!

If you intend to visit the Forbidden City, I recommend you to purchase tickets to the Clock Gallery and Treasure Gallery. Both require separate tickets. The treasure gallery is housed inside the Palace of Tranquil Longevity, at the eastern side of the Forbidden City. The nine dragon wall is located here. One can have a glimpse of some of the exquisite items worn by the Qing emperors and the royal families such as jade and gold jewelry, accessories etc. As I visited in end Sep, off shoulder season, it was rather quiet and I have no crowd issues.

Unfortunately with most top rated sites in China today, no matter which day you visit, it is bound to be super crowded. That was the case when we visited and at the end, we were frustrated by first the long queue then the others who cut queues just to take pictures of the display. else they are rather impressive.

There is a small entrance fee but worth seeing the treasures and antiques. The nine dragon wall is located here.
Clock and Watch Gallery contains all the beautiful and ornate clocks given as gifts from other countries.
Treasure Gallery has exquisite items of the emperors and their families such as jade and gold jewelry, silver dinnerware, pictures and other valuable artifacts. The jewelry area is small and jam-packed.
It is worth the extra fee to see these treasures.

The forbidden city is a complex of buildings, viewed from the exterior. That's why visiting this add on museum is so important. it is the portion that is an actual museum with artifacts and museum displays. Check the map, it is in the building adjacent to the dragon screen. an extra admission ticket is needed, but well worth it.
