Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can hire sledge with poles or modified bicycles to ride on ice. It was our first time riding a bike on ice, took a few minutes to adjust, then it was lots fun. Very few collisions considering the amount of traffic. Part of the ice sheet were thin and water were sipping out, park staff had the area sealed off. There are numerous restaurants around the “sea”, where you can stop for hot tea or coffee.

There are lots of things that you can do around the park! the park itself located in the historic area of Beijing, thus there are lots of attractions you can visit. Or you can opted to take a stroll along the lake where you can enjoy the view of the lake, join in the abundance of activites, watch the local's daily life activities (its interesting that i usually stops to watch them), go to local markets or just chilling around in one of the cafes facing the lake.

Shichahai... Wow, what a stunning place when the sun goes down and the neon lights come on! Talk about opportunities for beautiful photos. It is a willow tree lined lake district, guaranteed to please all.
Houhai, as it is known, is a place where modernity meets tradition. We saw incredibly beautiful historical buildings and courtyards, part of the Beijing area Hutongs, near Behai lake.
There are many hip bars and colorful restaurants which we did not visit as we were warned about the overpriced meals. Best to enjoy from the outside.
In January, the lakes were frozen solid, and people of all ages were seen skating. In the summer, boating is available.
Shichahai is can be enjoyed on foot or by bike; we chose to walk. Also, bicycle rickshaws are available.
The Royal Imperial Post Office is a couple of blocks away.

It is a big green area ...
The boats looked a little rickety and there was not much else. It was nice for a walk and maybe picnic but bring your own!

I visited the lake twice as I was staying in Hutong area very nearby and could walk to the area. Cool breeze off the lake and beautiful landscaping as well as Taoist Buddhist Temple and coffee shops. Very close to Bar Street if that is your think. I found this lake to be a neighborhood place, with locals singing, playing music and children running around as well as playing on the communal exercise equipment. It is quiet, relaxing and perhaps not worth a trip if you are not in the area as you can find many community parks in Beijing. Yet if you are visiting the hutongs, it is a wonderful addition to openness, water a breeze and local spirit.

This is a historic scenic lake area consisting of three lakes, Qianhai, Xihai and Houhai. Sichahai literally means the lake with ten temples. Around the lake there are ten Buddhist and Taoist temples and several famous mansions and gardens. There are boats for rental here during summer. The whole area is ringed by restaurants, cafes and bars and has a buzzling nightlife popular among the younger generation, expatriates and tourist.
