I came to Beijing solo for vacation and while I did the usual must see spots (Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City), this was suggested from Lonely Planet and I will say I agree- it was a great find! Easy to get to on the Subway Line 10 that takes you right to the market (you have to ask... More

We took a taxi from the hotel to this market and spent two hours roaming around and looking at everything. There are more authentic Chinese goods to buy, and it is always good to remember to barter - go for at lease 50% less than the asking price. I always try to be fair and think of an item's worth... This is a place for the locals and you will miss out if you do not make a visit if you have time. This a great place to shop for art, crafts and antiques and if you are into Jade and making your own jewellery then go. Remember to bargain hard and English is not usually spoken. You will remember... More

We stopped by the Panjiayuan Market on a Saturday afternoon in mid-September. The place was packed with lots of people shopping, eating or lounging around people watching. Got there on the subway, which given all the traffic in Beijing, is the only way to get around. We spent about 30 minutes just walking through all the different stalls, which to... More

A vast market of around 5000 stalls well worth a visit. Took about half hour to relax for fear of being accosted. Enjoy wandering around a variety of jewellery, pottery, material, furniture, clothes etc. Just be aware that all may not be as real as it looks. Handbook states that this is the place to come for fakes. We enjoyed... More

We have been there for 2 hours, but you can spend more time. It is not a market for souvenirs, but if you know you can buy good stuff!

It was great for a while (as I arrived early) many sellers with a hotch-potch of goodies. Unfortunatly it was G20 weekend in Hangzhou and the Beijing police were doing a clean up - in case anyone connected visited the Capital - they moved most of the vendors on and the whole thing came to a sudden stop. In normal... More

They do not follow posted timings. Most sellers weren't there on a rainy day. you can't figure out until you reach the place. was disappointing. The restaurant across the street is awesome.

This place is ideal for people who want to purchase in bulk however they will sell individual pieces as well, you really need to know your products before you come here as you are expected to barter. You can buy almost anything Chinese from small beads in the thousands to hugs temple dragons, brass horses, bronze, China homewares, ginger jars... More
