Went there with my husband today. Was solicited by several people on the street. We knew which building we wanted to go to, so we let one of the solicitors take us to his shop outside the building we were interested in. The building we wanted to go to was across the street from the Northwest Panjiayuan subway exit, exit... More

I always knew the eye glass industry in Canada was an over priced scam but this experience has confirmed it. Frames and prescription lenses for no more than $60 Canadian per pair. Amazing selection. Finally glasses priced right. Instead of the standard $250-$400 / pair in Canada, frames were priced appropriately, give they're simple, cheap pieces of plastic or metal.

The selection and price compared to U.K. is worth the visit. I visited 2 shops, getting varifocals and sunglasses at each. The varifocals are fine. At 10% of U.K. prices a fun way to try a different style or colour. However, in one shop I asked for varfocals sunglasses, which came back with only my distance lens. The sunglasses from... More

We visited Glasses City today & with the positive reviews on #218, we decided that was where we wanted to go. The young lady was efficient & professional. After testing our eyes, we searched for the frames. The sales lady gave her honest opinion on what suited our faces. It only took 30 minutes to get our glasses. We bought... More

Having been to other cities in China I am aware of how cheap these glasses can be. Most of the glasses are overpriced to begin with so if you want a pair don't be afraid to really haggle or walk away if the price doesn't suit what you are willing to pay.

Recommended for curious Beijingers only. Panjiayuan Glasses City was a very famous glass and oculist location in Beijing, before the capitalist rise of shopping malls in this city. Many articles are fake and overpriced (especially sunglasses, so beware...), but why? Because you need to bargain (in fact its part of their daily business here)!!! Easy to arrive by car, bus... In this part of the city there are a lot of glasses shops. We just ordered 4 pairs of glasses which are made to measure. It only took 15 minutes and about one fifth of the European price.

we went to 18-21 floor 2, mingjing yuan , Glasses City. We went to this store, since other people, per trip advisor recommended this store. We ended up buying 5 pairs with a prescription;. total price was about $45.00 US dollars. With the frames we picked out, we felt we got a great deal. We wanted sunglasses, but they wouldn't... More

I lost my glasses on the second day in Beijing. Was suggest to go to Glasses City in the Panjiayuan area. There are several buildings with many shops, all selling glasses. Check around. I had 2 pairs made, one for driving, one for computer/reading for total of 440 yuan, about USD 74. Pretty good. I bought it from Yaojia Eye... More

Based on recommendations from this site I went to Glasses City to purchase a new pair of progressive lens glasses expecting to walk out wearing them in 2 hours. No, bad information, it takes five days to get the best progressive lens at nearly the same price that one can get at Costco. Not worth the trouble.
