This wall is steep. Be in semi decent shape. Great pictures, absolutely worth seeing. There’s a “difficult” route and a “very difficult” route. Wear comfy shoes- the incline on the wall is serious. We saw someone pass out. That said. Thrilled we did it. It’s...More

We had done this hike on a lovely sunny day in early June. We hired a private driver who took us to the village at the beginning of the trek (a little over an hours drive from our hotel). There was a sign in the...More

Leaving beijing by about 4 am, drove with local friend to the car park and hiked a solid hour up hill to climb up onto the wall. Tough tiring climb. On wall by sunrise, magnificent on a clear day. Good hiking shoes a must as...More

A bucket list item that was a great attraction. Amazing how good condition the wall still is. If you are not in good health or not good at climbing stairs take the chair rail up to the wall. If you don’t mind stairs it is...More

Just do it. The trail up is steep and ~60 minutes for ~900m vertical. But oh so worth seeing the unrestored part of the wall as you head over to Mutanyu. Nobody there and you can see the real history right up close.

Hiking this section of the Great Wall is challenging but rewarding. There were some very dangerous areas, but the views are simply breathtaking - absolutely worth the risk. I would recommend hiking from Jiankou to Mutianyu; there you can find easy transportation from the wall...More

Beautiful but tricky hike. Doable if you're not fit, but not necessarily enjoyable! The views are breath-taking!

Amazing wall, I climbed up part of the wall that I could which is 21000km long. Impressive how they built up such a huge thing without cement. The wall was packed with people but it was really nice.

That area is usually packed with people especially weekends. However the crowd won't affect anything. I have visited that place only thrice and there were plenty people each time. Jiankou to Mutianyu is about 10km but the... More
