Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's definitely a beautiful once you get inside. A lot of college students from different schools seem to come here with their friends during the weekends.
Once you walk in you walk through a beautiful bamboo forest that has a few adorable cats living inside them.
When you walk further up the path you can see different zodiac statues.
Further up the hill you can see stone statued monks that a robed with red garment. I don't know too much about the history of that but the story from what my wife told me is quite interesting and you should definitely look it up.
Summary-
Come here on the weekday won't be crowded
Bathroom is squatters..not so clean
After you visit this place you probably want to combine it with MuTianYu great wall...so come here in the morning and have lunch at a near by restaurant near this area the "farmer" food is really great.

After walking up and down the Mutianyu Great Wall, this place is where you want to be. A little pricey for the entrance but if you're already visiting Beijing and the Great Wall, this place does calm your nerves. This was a side trip that our guide took us mainly because it is along the wall from the PEK airport to Mutianyu.

Before going to Beijing last autumn, I came across an article which suggested the best places to see red and yellow leaves there. Those include Fragrant Hill and Hongluo Temple. As I was scared of seas of people in Fragrant Hill, I decided to visit Hongluo Temple and that was a wonder trip. Hiring a private driver, I reached there very early in the morning, around 7.30 a.m., making me practically the only one who climbed up the hill. It was cold in November, but the scenery was breath-taking. The more I climbed, the more red and yellow leaves I could see. On the stairway, looking back I had a wonder bird's view of the whole area with the blue sky, the lake, and fall foliage. What I love best about this trip is that it was until I climbed down that there came other visitors!

About an hour and a quarter north of Beijing you will find Hong Luo Si Temple. The area encompasses hundreds (if not more) of acres in the forested mountains outside of Beijing. It was originally built in the 3rd Century AD. It has a small bamboo forest as you enter, numerous small temple buildings throughout the site. Near the entrance is a large temple complex. A ten minute hike to the east takes you to the 500 Ahrat lifesize statues spead-out within the forest. A small funicular takes you to the top of the mountain to the Guanyin Temple Complex with beautiful views of the countryside.
Hong Luo Si is a great place for a day away from the smog in the fresh air of the mountains. Take a picnic lunch as there are numerous places to stop in the forest and on the mountain tops for lunch. Have been a dozen times; always enjoyable. Fun at Chinese New Year when they have a small and not crowded Temple Fair

I believe we must have come to this place on the best date of this year, 1-Nov-12. The weather was superb, cloudless blue sky, temperature in the teens. The gingko trees in the temple were beautiful. It only took us one and a half hour drive to Hongluo Temple. From Hongluo Temple, it was another 20mins drive to Mutianyu. We spent Rmb 600 to hire a private car and Rmb 40 on toll fees. The sky became hazy the next day and Beijing was hit by snow storm on 3-Nov. We're so lucky.

it is a must for a day trip from the Great Wall at Mutianyu. this is one of the moste relaxing places in China. in the park there are the 500 Buddhas which create a special atmosphere.
The temple covers a huge area across the mountains with a nice view from the top from it.
and from one of the mountains you can have a ride with a coaster down.... spirituell and commerce fits perfect together... The kids love this beside the huge places and
we always came back to this place and enjoy this unique area!

If you a believer of Buddhism or a hiker or someone with high stamina or someone who like to walk a lot or a photographer or just an oldman than this is the right place for you.
There a lots of Buddha statue here. Most people came here to pray. The only interesting part about this place is the steep stairs. Who ever manage to climb within 5 min, you are amazing or superhuman or not human at all. If you manage to reach the top you will see the amazing landscape. If you a landscape photographer you like it here,i think.
The place is far away from beijing about 2 hr travel. No restaurant only outside before the entrance. But some snack and drink sold inside. Souvenir shop available also selling Buddha statue keychain and chinese beads mostly religious stuff.
Is it worth the money? Depend on who. For me NO.

Oh glue temple is a little distance away from Beijing City, you can take the bus to the temple. In the temple, there are some nice attractions in the temple. During Autumn, the colorful view from the peak of the park is unforgettable.

Not a heard place to visit, but climbing up to the very top can be truly tedious! However, its a breathtaking sight to see once at the very top.
We visited on a weekend with my family whom visited from out of town. The trip there was via a booked 6-seater vehicle and the rest around the temple is entirely on-foot. The temple had several great viewing platforms with a truly steep climb - no kidding! but once up at the very top, the sight was amazingly clear and far, with the awesome landscape and greenery in the foreground - it was a truly beautiful sight to see, and awesome cool hill-top breeze to experience.
The temple is well known locally for those praying for romance/marriage blessings, with an old local saying emphasizing this especially for ladies (while gents seeking the same should try at another local famous temple). Theres a long stretch of appreciation banners from visitors/believers along one of the guanyin goddess climb routes that you have to see it to believe it.
I'm not a religious individual, but the climb and sight is worth the time to visit and experience. Do note though - climbing up the steep hill can be extremely tedious, especially for the eldery. There are safety reminder and signs echoing the same before you even attempt the climb - don't push it!
