We travelled to Xi’an on the high-speed train. It took about 5.5 hours. We needed to produce our passports, same as at airport. Our check in was a little slow , all bags had to go through the scanner , if you had any aerosols in your bag , the bag had to be opened and checked. The station was huge , modern and clean. There is plenty of places to purchase food, even Maccas and Kentucky fried. Very good bathrooms and even Western toilet Travelling by the train , allowed wonderful views of the country side

I arrived in Beijing from Ulaanbaator by train at the main Beijing railway station. You would imagine that the station would have a number of ATMs for all those arriving tourists. You’d be entirely wrong. There is not a single ATM in China’s capital city’s main railway station.
