Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Besides being in an iconic place in Beijing because of the Olympics, it is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon and create memories for your kids. The place is expansive and your kids will want to run around in the expanse. This is perfect to tire them out so they won’t fight you when it’s time to sleep, lol! There is a lake where you can rent a boat and navigate the area. There is an amusement park. There are ways to get around the park by rented bikes, buggies and trams. The park also features special events such as concerts. Bring snacks because the restaurants there are relatively pricey and not outstanding.

Why I give this a 5? Because I live in Beijing. I agree that if you are here on a 3 day holiday then there is no reason to come to the park, but for someone who lives here, this is the best park in Beijing. For one the park is the largest in Beijing. For another, it's perfect for runners; it has measured course distances of 3km, 5km and 10km. There isn't another place in Beijing with such facilities, and this is especially important when running outside your door-front is downright crazy, and near impossible. In the warmer months this is also the best place to have a picnic. You can actually find places here where there are few people, a surprising rarity in this city. Consider this place to be Beijing's competitor to Hangzhou's West Lake, or Nanjing's Xuanwu Lake, only with less lake and less cultural attractions, but with more forest and more seclusion.

overall this place is very good at night.. when you come here at morning or afternoon, they are nothing to see.. just like a regular sport centre in your country.. its just this olympic park is bigger then i ever see in my country..
but when you come at night, the tower, the "bird nest" look alike centre, and others place is very very good.. there is enough light for you to take a pic at night here.. worth for you to come and see this place at night even so far away from the center of beijing city..
my suggest is, dont take a personal car here since hard to find parking lot here.. except you are willing to walk so long away to enter this olympic park from available parking lot.. its better to have a subway going here.. its not hard to find this place in subway map.. just remember that this place is at line 8 of beijing subway.. so you can consider what is fastest route from you hotel area to get transit to line 8 of this olympic park..

...but I suspect most overseas tourists won't have given themselves enough time in Beijing to see the outlying city attractions such as this. The south gate of the Olympic Forest Park lies directly north of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, about 25 minutes walk up the central axis. It can also be reached by subway line 8. There is a small children's fun fair close to the entrance and boats can be hired on the lake just behind. At the time of writing, construction work on the northern extension of line 8 has resulted in a large part of the lake being cordoned off. The park is extensive; in fact, it covers such a large area that there is probably more than can possibly be seen in one day. I've been here more times than I can actually remember but have not yet visited all the different areas. The Arboretum and underwater tunnel are still on my list of things to do, for example.
Partly because it is so big, it is a relatively peaceful and quiet escape from the normal hustle and bustle of the city, especially on working weekdays. It is possible to wander smaller paths, designed or trodden in, as well as the main arteries and roadways. However, the latter are less appealing, I feel, and function better as routes for the sightseeing carts than foot traffic. Entry to the park is free but the sightseeing carts are quite expensive. It is also possible to hire electric buggies or quad-cycles on a deposit basis which are then charged by the half-hour. The trouble with these is that you have to take them back to the station you started from so you can't use them to travel through the park to leave by another exit, as such. I did have a quad-cycle once and just managed to go from the east to the west side and back before the hour ticked over - just. Of course, you can't really leave the things unattended to go looking about while you're in a different area and, as I said before, the roadways aren't really that interesting in and of themselves.
The park was created for the 2008 Games but didn't actually open to the public until the event was well over. And herein lies the least attractive aspect of the place and the main reason why I haven't rated it any higher: it is a very young park. I can actually remember cycling through the rubble and desolation of nothingness that remained after the area was levelled five years before the Games. The intention is laudable and I definitely would recommend it as a place to visit. However, as yet, it lacks the establishment or maturity of vegetation to render it any more than a work-in-progress and has more of a 'managed' feel to it, akin to the Botanical Gardens, rather than a 'natural' feel, like Fragrant Hill Park, for example. It will change for the better in due course, if allowed to prosper, but at the moment it retains a perceptible sense of artificiality.

It is a nice one day trip, if one wants to get out of the busy city life and just enjoy the day in the park. Close to the Olympic center and easily accessible with Subway line 8. You can rent a kind of golf cart motorized like a bicycle if you don't like to walk or have a boat tour on the sea. Culturally there isn't that much to see there, however the nature and surrounding is clean, quiet and peaceful.
The least walking distance you will take is about 3km as this is also made as a running/exercising park, which gives a great opportunity for those staying close to the park and wanting to have a jog in the day (3km, 5km or 10km) There are signs everywhere reminding you of the distance you have already accomplished.
So also bring comfortable shoes!! There is no entrance fee, but be in mind that there are small shops on the map, however only few of them are actually open and what they sell is only some probably expensive drinks and some ice cream. So, especially if you want to spend the day there or exercise, stop at a Supermarket and buy food and drinks before you start your trip. There are some more stands in front the Subway station, however they don't offer as much and are not really cheap. And don't forget headwear.
Summarizing, if you have the weekend/day and don't know what to do, go there and take a walk :)

It was a great experience to walk around Olympic Forest Park. The Bird's Nest and Olympic torch were great to observe first hand. The engraved wall with all the Special Olympian's names was a special sight to see and experience. This is a relaxing way to spend some time in Beijing.

We went here after visiting the Olympic park, great choice. You can walk a 3k or a 10k route, take a motorised car or, as we did, hire an electric boat and gently drift around the park. A big flock of heron and loads of ducks and fish. We thought it cost 400rmb but when we returned we got 320 back so it's 80 for a big 5 seater boat and a deposit. Definitely worth a visit.

The forest part is free and very big, including the south park and the north park. It has a 10.7 km track, which attracts a lot of people to run in the park. Except in winter, the park is filled with people, running, walking, strolling and camping on weekends. Try not to go there on weekends if you want away from crowds, or try to go as early as you can in the morning. There won't be less people in the late afternoon because the park is next to the Birds Nest and Water Cubic, and many people visit the park first and then go to watch the night-time lighting of the Birds nest and Water Cubic.

Hello everyone, I am planning to run in this park, what is the entrance fee and the best to get here. i will be travelling from San Yuan Qiao. This is my first run out of my country, Singapore. Is there a good to run ie should not run on weekend due to the crowd and should i run early morning and what time does the park opens and closes ?
Thank you so much
