We spent a long time trying to find the temple but once we did the security guard said no visitors were allowed. We were dressed conservatively as well. We were told to check out the Hindu temples instead.

A guard at the door refused to let me in and a passer by told me it has been closed to the public since January because some taxi drivers took advantage of tourists in some way. Didn't really understand it.

They did not allow us in. It was very sad. They said that the rules changed a year ago prohibiting Africans/ locals from visiting the temple.

If you have a hour or so to spare, this is worth a visit, the temple is clean, and looked after, it certainly makes you wonder about the years gone by.

I grew up in Mombasa but this was the first visit in over 30 years. This temple still has the power to awe. The coolness inside is inductive to prayer. Very intricate carving inside .

One of the oldest Jain temple out side India, recently completed 50 years. Located in old town area and easily accessible. Holy place for all devotees and followers of Jainism.
