The old town is fascinating and makes for great pictures. We hired a guide for 1200 KHs at Fort Jesus and he showed us around. That also made us feel safer and more comfortable taking pictures.

This is what I like to experience when I travel. Crowded streets and a lot of history. Walk down the narrow streets and take a look at the colonial buildings and markets. There's lot of spices here, I you want to purchase. The history of...More

Pretty funky spot, not much to see except some of the shops. There’s a nice antique store, an amazing furniture store, a nice waterfront restaurant, and a lovely jewelry store. Don’t go after dark.

I'ts the old part of town, so touristic just by accident which is not meant in a negative way but I find it hard to rate since it's just a place where people live and I don't really see what to rate. Old Town and...More

We went to Old town with friends. One has options to pay a local guide. One is advised to not walk alone there. It is safe for the most part, but there are areas that one should be careful. The buildings are a site to...More

First of all, Jada, good choice on Mombasa. It's a fascinating city. You probably won't need any kind of a guide for the Old Town, just a map. And in fact, there are maps of the Old Town posted at the near end (facing Fort... More
