amazing history

So much history and culture retained in this museum. The roof top gives a great view of the town. There is an entrance fee based on residency. Guides are available.

Interesting museum, describing the old history of Lamu. The museum is situated in the middle of the old Lamu town?

This is one of the best museums I've been to in Kenya. Very well laid out and we had a great guide provided by the museum. The entry fee is not so bad but I wish they had informed us it could also be used at the Fort. An worthwhile outing and even young kids age 7 and 10 found... More

Its not as any other museum. Most of the time it will be only you or with few other tourist. You will enjoy and spend great time learn about Lamu and its dense culture.

We had a brilliant guide who was passionate about the topics he was talking about. We learnt alot about the settling of Lamu and how life was/is. Fascinating to hear about the fishing trade and the customs. Well worth a visit, even if you are not into history

A great collection of history and culture in the Museum. Worth a visit for first timers in Lamu. The museum is small but well spaced out. Take a guided tour if you can it adds to the experience.

A good place to visit and include Lamu Fort also, 1-2 hours suffices, a UNESCO heritage site, well managed and preserved indeed by the dedicated team!

We arrived ready to go around on our own and rolling our eyes a bit at the inevitable person who wanted to give us a tour. We grudgingly let him - and were so glad he did. He had a real passion for the place and answered all our questions about the fascinating collection. We spent a good two hours... More
