The camping grounds were really beautiful and Francis the tour guide was completely amazing with his expertise, driving, knowledge, and looking after us. The cook made the most delicious meals and lots of it! We had an absolute brilliant time learning about the history of Kenya and all the habits of the wildlife. Francis was great at spotting the wildlife and we saw every single animal that you can imagine. Was the most superb trip of a lifetime. Thanks Overland Travel Adventures, would highly recommend and would do it again!

Thank you Jenny. Francis returned from your safari full of stories; clearly he had a great time with you and Hannah! We hope to see you again...perhaps to climb Mt Kenya??

Nothing was too difficult and everything planned to the smallest detail. When there was a long stopover, she came to the airport and bought us lunch! All the hotels on the way were told it was our honeymoon and we got upgrades and champas and great service. The organization was spot on but flexible. Shout out to Grayson in Tanzania who was excellent too. Would thoroughly recommend OTA and their partners! Eagle eye spotting of game so we were often the first!

Tracey was excellent in helping plan my 19-day group safari but problems began as soon as we left Kenyatta Airport when our drivers had difficulty locating our Nairobi accommodation. During our 1st day's drive, besides having a flat tire, our drivers spent so much time with rest stops and choosing an unacceptable location for our packed lunch that we arrived at our first camp well after dark. In Tsavo East National Park, our drivers failed to follow the tracks I had chosen and retraced some of those they used. In Tsavo West National Park, they again retraced tracks they had taken previously while seeming unaware of sites such as Chyulu Waterhole. When we returned to Nairobi for an overnight in transition, they again had difficulty locating our accommodation. The following day, enroute to Samburu Reserve, the company's aging Land Rover developed mechanical problems requiring service. While Francis took his vehicle to have it serviced, Tracey and our other driver arranged another vehicle & driver for us. While we did not lose a game drive, we lost time waiting for the other vehicle. Upon his return on our final day in Samburu/Buffalo Springs, Francis had difficulty finding the springs. On our way to Lake Nakuru National Park the next day, Francis' vehicle became inoperable. Our other driver again found a safari vehicle with driver to take us from Nanyuki. While at Lake Nakuru, we also had to find a second vehicle and driver which we did but, again, with part of my group having to wait for the second vehicle. Francis and his Land Rover returned for our drive from Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara but his vehicle was unable to complete the trip, forcing us to fit into another vehicle to reach our destination. We also had to use other vehicles and drivers during our days in Masai Mara. While Francis was very personable, he consistently deferred to our other driver in making decisions and choosing tracks for game drives. He does not know birds well and also has trouble distinguishing the smaller antelopes. His Land Rover was completely unsuitable for safari use. Tracey booked all of our accommodations, including specific room requests, to perfection. She also worked tirelessly with our other driver in arranging for substitute vehicles and drivers to cover the situations where Francis and his vehicle were unavailable. While I am compelled to rate our safari as poor, I extend Tracey full credit in managing it's completion despite the numerous severe setbacks.

Went on safari to the Maasai Mara with Overland Travel Adventures in February 2017. Tracey and Francis took such good care of us. We saw so many animals, including cheetahs and lions, and got to stay in an amazing bush tent on the border of the park. It really was a once in a lifetime experience and these guys were the best.

It's such a shame that OTA (Overland Travel Adventures) comes up in the category of "Private Day Tours" since the reality is that they offer day tours as well as much longer adventures. Tours can be customised or set itineraries and dates can be joined. Either way, a first class experience can be guaranteed. My tour was a customised six day tour for one (me) and from start to finish I was hugely impressed. My goal was to see some of the lesser travelled parks in Northern Kenya (having already been on safari for two weeks in the south of Kenya and northern Tanzania) and with Tracey and Francis' expert knowledge we settled on Aberdare NP, Samburu NR and Meru NP. Although I live in Australia (Tracey's origins too), the planning went without a hitch and the whole trip was a wonderful addition to my earlier trip. Highlights were many but I think the day traversing Aberdare NP West to East (barely seeing another person) was one of the great day drives of my life; mind you the stark semi arid landscape of Samburu and its fantastic wildlife also stood out; as did rhino spotting in Meru. All in all, Francis (a born a bred Kenyan) was a wonderful guide; accommodation was exactly as I had hoped (waterhole room in Aberdare; bush camping in Samburu; Safari Lodge in Meru) and the trip, a perfect addition to my Kenyan and Tanzanian adventures. Just to top things off, Francis and Tracey have an Airbnb room so I finished the trip at their place and went out to dinner for some Nyama Choma and a Tusker beer or two.If you want a small local company, that provides outstanding service and value for money while being socially and environmentally responsible then you can't go past OTA.
