There's no words to describe this tour, which we think it's without a doubt the #1 thing to do in Nairobi. Such a humbling experience and our tour guides Freddy, "Rastaman" and "Obama" were just great! They treated us like family and the tour felt more like us walking with friends and meeting new people than just a touristy thing... More

Even after reading all the super positive reviews of this walking tour I still had my concerns about our security. Within the first few minutes with Freddy and Leonard my fears vanished. It was very difficult for me to imagine the living conditions in Kibera. But we found the residents to be friendly, sociable and upbeat. It also seemed that everyone... More

My guide, Charles, was wonderful and I never felt rushed. I had a lot of questions about life in Kibera and he answered them as a resident. I cannot see taking the tour in a group. For me that would be too intrusive, but a private tour of one or two is ideal. I loved interacting with the people. The... More

Freddy was a great guide. He was not only born and raised in Kibera, but he still lives there. We even had an opportunity to visit his home. It was very humbling experience. The highlight for me was seeing how they recycled animal bones to make beautiful jewelry. It was a wonderful tour.

Visiting the largest urban slum in Kenya (and 2nd in the world) cannot be reviewed like a tourist attraction. The reason for your visit must be the knowledge - we must see and visit to understand... Do not be afraid. The slums are not violent for visitors and we felt safe while walking with our guide. It was encouraging to... More

This tour offers a look into the lives of millions of Africans that i feel most visitors close their eyes to. There is a lot of goings on in Kibera, and this is a great way to see it. The tour is a few hours long and has a few scheduled stops to hear a few individual stories and opportunities... More

We met our two guides at Java House Cafe at the local shopping centre before commencing our 3 hour walking tour of the Kibera. Our guides were friendly and knowledge and were actually raised and live currently in Kibera. The tour stops are a number of projects in Kibera, including a little school which is a real highlight as the... More

Booking a tour of the Kibera slum with Kibera Tours via email went very well. Fredrick was very responsive. Our pickup from the Hilton hotel was a bit delayed by extraordinary traffic (Unctad 14 conference blocked off quite some streets) but our tour guide Evans improvised to get us out of the gridlocked city centre. The tour was very well... More

Had a good time, I was alone during the tour and we walked around for about 3 hours. Asked for chapati which we got near the bone carving center. I just read some comment from someone that says she was expecting a factory of some sort, but really.. it's a slum.. There are people working hard to make a bit... More

I been to Africa many times. I am in Kenya to take my mom on a dream Safari. My mom did not want to go on this tour. She is a grateful person and appreciates life. She did not want to see people without. I have a tour business. The "few" people that wrote negative reviews makes my feathers ruffle.... More
