    Did some shopping here!
Located next to my hotel, I walked around here just to look around. Noted items for sale are clothings, rugs, jewelries, spices, shoes, bags, souvenirs/carvings, etc. Merchants were welcoming, inviting you to take a look of their stores. I ended up buying 2 shirts with embroided symbols and name of Luxor. Price = 100 EGP or about 3 US$! Excellent cheap souvenirs from Luxor! The market is clean and very organized. The streets are straight and wide unlike the ones I’ve visited in Morocco where one can easily get lost. Wooden roofs cover the streets so it was comfortable walking around here.

Good place to buy cheap souvenirs!
This souk is located very close to the Luxor Temple - maybe a 5 min walk - and in the heart of Luxor. There are shops selling T-shirts, Egypt souvenirs, etc. Bargaining is a must here, or else you stand to get fleeced! Quality of stuff is okay.

Fun place to grab a bargain!
Not as big as I thought with quite a few shops still closed, but nice way to spend a morning. Yes you do have to deal with people hassling you and bargaining down to a suitable price, but the people are quite nice so it is a bit of fun. BIT OF ADVICE! Avoid the 'factories' which your guides will try to take you to in Luxor as they will rip you off every which way!! Especially Thutmoses Factory! They will tell you something is €230 which you barter down to €100, then find out you can buy one for about €20 in the Luxor souk! We bought many items from the souk/market from a lovely guy in my photo who gave very reasonable prices!

    An experience
Not as big as the Khan-El-Khalili in Cario but my daughter and I enjoyed this far more as we felt more comfortable. Went visiting a night then again during the day. Night was more exciting but again the salespeople/merchants were welcoming but were a little pushy. The majority of the souvenirs items are cheap and are imported from China.

    Unforgetable
Our guide (Yasser) did meet us in Luxor and continued our tours . The vallet of kings and karnak temple tour is a must see. Yasser again was informative and again , will get you those unpopular hidden places that are not generally seen. He gets 100% from my wife and myself.

Ahmed Sekhmet's factory has the most wonderfull pieces you can ever imagine. From alabaster souvenirs to many of the most beautifull local rocks objects, Ahmed offers not only good quality but also fare prices. We really enjoyed our visit to his store and recommend to visit this place when visiting The King's or Queen's Villages in Luxor, Egypt.

Great place to find everything available in Luxor. The first part which starts from the roundabout near the back of the Luxor temple is very touristy. It’s very nice but remember you so need to barter. For instance we got some really nice Egyptian cotton tshirt’s, 200 le was first price and we got for 50 le, later found out out we could have got them for 40 le. Just shows you have to be ruthless when bartering. My advice is to have fun with it and if you feel it’s a good price for you then go for it. When you get to the end of the tourist part you will see a little garden cafe and a main road. If you continue straight (slight right) this is the start of the real market street for the locals. You will find everything here and more than you expected. Enjoy some fresh mango juice, some local street food and if your looking for Egyptian cotton this is also the area to find it without the tourist price tag. Enjoy and have fun

My advice is to go straight this shop “Al Mutawkil” if you want save money and get a very good quality.

Luxor Market is the best place to get fresh spices. I do recommend this shop “Al Mutawkil” as others will try to ripe you off. The price in his shop is 1/2 less than others and more important it is fresh, Ex: we got from him the 1 Nut Meg with 2 LE ( Egyptian pound) while others were selling it with 5 LE!!
The owner Ahmed Ismail is so honest and will gave you the best.

The market is absolutely amazing and authentic experience. I loved all the pieces they had as each piece was a special item. I got a special design souvenir for me, I will never forget. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family for gift or souvenir shopping 🛍 ❤️

I frequented El Souk when I lived in Luxor. People call this "Hassle Street" amongst other derogatory names. What we all need to think about is that they are trying to make a living just like we do! The salesmen in El Souk are very nice. Yes, t may be a little intrusive to have the owners/workers in the market to want your business, but they are doing the only thing they know how to do to make a sale. Do you think they want to be there to "Hassle" you? I am sure not any more than you want them hassling you. Please go to the market with an open mind and remember, they are trying to feed their families! This is a barter system. You tell them the price you want to pay for something and they will tell you what they want you to pay. They expect you to barter!

I took a quick look at the "Luxor Market" souk.
I've also been to souks in Aswan and Cairo, and they also had similar souvenir shops, spice stores, cafes, etc. There wasn't anything particularly different, so I just took a quick look without buying anything.

We visited the "locals" souk in Luxor. It was great>

I don't really get how people get this thing about being "pestered". It's not pestering. In sales terms you'd call them "hard closers" and these shopkeepers go straight to the close. Yes, they want to sell you something. To do that they want you to come in their shop. They expect to haggle the price. It is NOT like going to Walmart. If these people took the time to check out what's going on around them, they'd see that everyone get's that treatment, but they really like to see westerners. When we were there the exchange rate was 18:1 in favor of USD. So, yeah, they want to sell you something becuase chances are you have money to spend.

I found that the word "no" worked really well. Also best yo not stop, if you do, the game is afoot.

The worst Souks were at the attractions like VotK, Giza Pyramids and so on.

A typical bazaar with street vendors and buildings, unfortunately a lot of tourist junk. Haggling is a must, but the vendors are unfortunately very pushy. But the atmosphere is unique. There is a great atmosphere here, especially in the evenings.
We recommend ordering a tea in a café and watching the hustle and bustle. Incredibly interesting.
