We are staying as a family of 11 with the youngest being 2 and the oldest 45. We booked through a tour agency outside the hotel and paid around ÂŁ40 per adult, ÂŁ20 5yrs-11yrs and free under 5. This included bus, lunch (drinks not included), english tour guide and entrance to Karnak Temple and 3 tombs at Valley of the Queens. This tour involves a lot of walking most of it on uneven ground.
The bus journey is approx 4 hours from Hurghada with the day starting at 0530. The is 1 stop about mid way for bathroom break but be aware you have to pay to use the toilet like most places in Egypt.
First stop is Karnak Temple where your guide shows you around and gives you some photo time.
At the end of this tour the guide will explain about an extra boat trip costing $10 adults, $5 (5-11) free under 5. He will say its a cruise of the Nile, see some wild animals and eat some fruit. In reality it's a quick 10 minutes down stream in a small boat (picture included), 2 monkeys and three small crocodiles in a small cage and some fruit sat in a restaurant. If you choose not to do this you will spend an extra 90 mins waiting on the coach for those who do partake. This takes place after you visit Valley of the Queens.
After Karnak Temple we went for lunch which is an open buffet including salad, bread, chicken, beef and desert (drinks aren't included).
Next stop was the Valley of the Queens which are in 2 different areas. We had approx 30 minutes at the first one before returning to the coach to travel to the next area which has a further 3 tombs.
All throughout the day there are many people trying to get money out of you either by trying to sell you things when the bus stops or by offering to take photos/photo bombing and then demanding money. It becomes very tiresome by the end of the trip as some times even a No doesn't work and they will follow you or grab your arm.
We left Luxor at 1730 on route back to Hurghada.
In all its an experience that i wouldnt do again. There isnt enough time to look at everything and the constant hounding becomes annoying.

Valley of the Queens is great to see, but a little bit of a let down if you see Valley of the Kings first. There were two tombs you could enter included in the entry ticket and one of them held the mummy of a fetus. Nefertari’s tomb costs an additional 1,200 LE to enter and you are only permitted to stay for 10 minutes. There is also a well where our tour guide stated children’s bodies were thrown down when they passed and were in be royal family.

This is a great stop! There are so many beautiful tombs to explore. We got there early in the morning before all the buses and had many tombs to ourselves. Surely smaller than the Valley of the Kings, but you surely don't want to miss it! If somebody wants to take your photo for you or wants to guide you in the tomb, they will want a tip, so you can kindly say no thanks.

On the day of visiting the pharaohs' tombs starting at the Valley of the Kings where I entered "10 tombs" (and yes except for the visit to the Temple of Hatshepsut which was the second stop and which is not a tomb), I would just say that I saved "the best for last" as such was my realization upon entering the tomb of Nefertari at this site: a tomb, just to put simply, "radiating with colors" from plenty of these figures (humans & animals and most of which "life-sized") carved on the walls on the "2 levels" of the tomb (whereas in contrast the tombs at the Kings' Valley all just one level except for Seti I with also two levels as this one, and also no tomb there as full of life-sized figures as seen in this tomb, if I recall correctly). And so, my only wish while at the Queens' Valley was for the existence of more "such tombs" (actually about 3 more tombs on site just in the vicinity of Nefertari but all of those three "quite plain" ones just for brief entries although they may have also been under renovation and such at the time).
With my Luxor Premium Pass (costing US$200 bought at my first stop the Kings' Valley and which I started using for the ten tombs there as mentioned above), I didn't need to pay any extra amount here although yes I kind of wondered about the individual price for Nefertari as actually only the Luxor Standard Pass is needed for all the tombs of the Kings' Valley (and at half the price), but yes the "all-inclusive" Premium Pass covers all the sites on both the west & the east banks of the Nile (which I used for the Kings' & Queens' Valleys and the 3 temples namely Hatshepsut, Karnak & Luxor Temples).

The tombs are smaller than the ones in the Valley of the Kings but have many excellent, well preserved paintings.
I'd read elsewhere that the best time to go was after 3 p.m., when all the tourist coaches have left. It was good advice. We arrived at about 3.30 and the place was rapidly emptying. It close at 5 p.m. but that leaves 30 minutes for each of three tombs.
We had to share the first tomb with a few other people, we had the second and third entirely to ourselves.

I really enjoyed visiting the Valley of the Queens. It was a lot less busy and hectic than the Valley of the Kings. Your ticket gives you access to 3 tombs. I thought the 3 that we visited were nice, but not mind blowing. It was a lot more peaceful to look at the paintings in greater detail and take my time with taking photos than my experience in the crowded, sweaty tunnels of the Valley of the Kings. This is generally a quicker visit than the valley of the Kings, as there is not as much to see here.
The best preserved, and I would say the most beautiful tomb that I saw was that of Queen Nefertari. If cost me $71 USD to enter. The authorities allow a certain number of people to enter at a time. Once in the tomb, you only have 10 minutes to visit and take photos. The rules are enforced. If you see a large group going in, especially those from the cruise ships, wait 10 minutes and then go in. This tomb is very expensive but I'm glad I went in. The wall paintings look like they were painted yesterday. The colors are incredibly well preserved. If you want to save money, maybe have 1 person per couple or per family or group go in to take pictures and make videos. This is definitely my favorite tomb that I visited. Better than anything I saw in the Valley of the Kings.

Head here first since the crowds will start at the Valley of the Kings and then thin out later when you arrive. It will also give you a vantage point for comparison as many think that this Valley pales in comparison to that of the Kings. I thought both were exceptional.
The three that we visited were Nefertari, Amen Khopshef and Titi.
Nefertari was one of the wives of Ramses II and this was constructed as a shrine to her beauty. Every inch was adorned with colorful scenes.
The tomb of Amen Khopshef has beautiful well-preserved reliefs
The tomb of TIti has a long corridor leading to a chapel, off of which is the burial chamber that has animal guardians such as a jackal, a lion and monkeys.

The valley of the Queens has less people there than the valley of the kings. Go early and wear good footwear to think they are still finding tombs today It is amazing.
I believe the must see tomb is Nefertari tomb extra cost of 1400 EGP but amazing art work & the colours wonderful.
Your entry ticket gives you 3 tombs, inside the tombs are people who guard it & make sure you don't damage it. They will explain the scenes & offer to take your photo inside the tomb they get better photos than you can get. But if you take their service you PAY but for a couple of dollars I believe well worth it.

Yes the ticket is expensive and the other tombs are not impressive but ...
Queen Nefertari Tomb is exceptional and a must see. The tomb is expansive and all the wall and ceiling artwork looks to have been just finished. We were in Egypt for two weeks and this is was a highlight!

Disappointing. Limited sites and Nefertari access is a rip off, 1400 kinds access is insane compared to other sites in Egypt. Also some of the hieroglyphics looked kinda fake / repainted. Whole plane felt like a scam.
Loved Karnak and Valley of Kings was good.

We are planning to visit Egypt towards the end of December 2017. I am very keen on visiting the Tomb of Nefertari. Can anyone tell me if this tomb is open on all days or only on specific days? Also, is there a time limit as to how long one can stay in the tomb? I am reading reviews where tourists were shooed away after only 4 mins because they did not tip the guys/refused to take photos in the tomb (which is not allowed). Any information regarding this will be very useful! Thank you.
