Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When you are there you will probably ask yourself “ why is this place a top review ”? When you walk in you look around but all you can see is a sandpit. You ask “ what is so special about this ”?!? The answer to that is that this is no ordinary sandpit. It is an archaeological dig. This tomb is no fully unearthed but a small room with not in bad condition hieroglyphs. There is a lot of trash but I think they will clear it out when it has been fully unearthed .

Experience these wonderful tombs and you will be amazed at what you see. We were recommended to go to these tombs by our taxi driver, Ali and we were not disappointed. We couldn't believe the size of them as we expected them to be small and modest. Work still needs to be done inside them, but that does not distract from what has been recovered thus far.
We went for first thing in the morning and we walked amongst the varying missions that are carrying out work in the area at the moment. It is so exciting to see work being carried out and cannot wait to return next season.

Our guide and friend Ahmed Galal took us to this area and these tombs because he said they were as beautiful as those in the Valley of Kings/Queens and he was not wrong.
There are some here in Pristine condition and others still in good condition and they are colourful to say the least. These tombs are of High officials to the Pharoah and Queen, They are Pabasa TT279---Kheruefs TT192---Djhuty TT110---Ankh-Nor TT414
One of them was a Chief steward to Queen Tiye and wife of Amonhotep 111and were celebrational of he`s 30yrs on the throne---in one tomb you will be shown a mummy that has been laying here since burial,it is a long winding passageway to get to it all downwards on loose shingle and gravel, so wear suitable footwear and some of the tombs are small in size that you have to get down on hands and knees and crawl through tiny holes but all worthwhile and part of the reason why you visit these places.
You will also see another room full of mummies and other body parts and there are other tombs and Temples here still being excavated by the Germans, Spanish, Polish and although you cannot get into them as very steep sided and long drops over the edge, but we managed to get some lovely photo`s from the top edge which was quite hairy at times.
There is a lot of climbing over loose gravel and rocks but well worth it especially the views of Queen Hatchepsut Temple in the distant.
As in most of the tombs and temples in egypt be prepared to pay money to the guardians for their troubles usually around 50LE for without them you would not be allowed on site.
Photographs are allowed in this area but not in the actual tombs themselves.

This is one of my favorite tombs in Egypt. Chief Steward to Queen Tiye, wife of Amonhotep III. Most of the surviving, exquisite raised relief decoration involves the Pharaoh's Heb Seb, or Jubilee Festival, celebrating 30 years of rule. Bring a flashlight, as the T-shaped hallway gets dark fast, and you'll want to savor the carvings. Very close to the parking lot for Deir el Bahri. Well worth a visit!

You can see Queen Hatchepsut Temple from here. But the tourist with inappropriate attire and not good shoes will struggle to walk those gravel and dust. An ardent Egyptologist will be happy, others not so.

Located to the left of the parking lot of Hatshepsut's temple, this is a bit hard to find and for the real hard core Egyptophile. We wandered around for 1/2 an hour looking for it, but spotted a guard hut on the top of the hill and low and behold these were the guards of El Assisi. They took us to a couple of tombs with amazing carvings, although one had to hold a mirror to reflect the light in.

Near the temple of Hatshepsut there are also some very nice tombs to be seen. Tickets can be bought at the ticket office at the Hatshepsut temple. The Nobles will set you back 40 EP and Pabasa 30EP. If the caretakers are in a good mood they will show you some mummies. Keep in mind there is almost no shade and it can be very hot on these stones ...

Exploring these is best for Egyptology buffs & those who like to explore & don’t mind getting dusty & dirty - as you’ll be walking, climbing, squatting & crawling in the rocky soil excavations. We had read about the El-Assasif Tombs, near Hatshepsut’s Tomb, and enjoyed the exploration experience. Only for the very interested!

Some of the tombs of the Stewards of the God's Wife of Amun are located here. Grand scale, lots of paint remaining.
