About
At over 240 feet long and 66 feet high, it’s a wonder that this mysterious sculpture was carved from a solid limestone block.

This reminds me of those other iconic disappointments, such as Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid, which don’t quite live up to the billing. The positive is that it’s close to the Pyramids of Giza so, as a package, they’re obviously well worth a visit. It’s a shame that erosion and other possible outside agencies have taken a toll on the Sphinx but the authorities have done a reasonable job in reinforcing the sides to prevent further deterioration.

A little different than what I imagined, perhaps even better. The Sphinx seems friendly, emerging from the stones of ancient quarry. Photogenic as usual.
One of the iconic places of the Giza plateau.

One of the highlights of the Giza plateau. The Sfinx lies at one of the entrances and before the pyramid. Enter the temple in front of it to get close.

I was expecting it to be bigger and much easier to access. Still is something amazing that you might not miss it. Be quick to visit it and take photos as it gets easily crowded by anoying people also that does not let you to take photos at all.

My travel company was able to arrange special entry to the Sphinx Paws. I and my group got to walk down to the sculpture, and examine it closely on all sides. I gained a better appreciation of the artistry of those who carved the Sphinx many, many years ago.

Pyramids and Sphinx are together and you can take pictures both in background. Easily accessible places with roads till the last mile.

Not exactly what I expected. The Spanx got smaller or someone is teasing me.
Lots of garbage around this magnificent moments.
Now in between the pyramids the new museum is being built and is affecting the view.
I guess somehow they will close the access thru this way and will be using the new access rotonda. Such a wonderful wonder and they only care about how much money they make of this.

Everyone from Alexander the Great to Napolean visited this spot. The Sphinx is truly unique and has watched the sands of time pass by ...

Excellent narrator of the evening light show as well! ;-)
