Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved taking my family to the "Cave Church" near St. Simeon's Monastery. The people of this neighborhood deserve something so grand and majestic as this. Got to walk up a few stairs at the cafe to see through the window what is left of El Seed's amazing mural "Perception" which has been on my bucket list for some time.

Never made it to the church - When we requested Uber we put in this church, which showed up on maps but Uber driver gave up after several attempts to get thru garbage truck gridlock around the nearby town. will try to go back some day, but probably have to take a guided tour or perhaps by then Uber drivers will be able to get us there. Driver tried hard and apologetic when he finally gave up.

This place's nickname is "Garbage City" and once you see it you will know why. It appears to be where trash is collected, sorted and recycled. So the locals performing this effort are doing the city a huge service. You must drive through this area in order to get to the Cave Church. It makes you appreciated what you have and where you come from. I took a local taxi through here to the Cave Church, where I spent about (2) hours. I walked from the Cave Church and into Garbage City with no problems and then found a tuk tuk. I had the tuk tuk take me to the main road so that I could get a car taxi back to Maadi.

If you wish to see the unique mural of El Seed taking place over 50 buildings in Moqattam , here are important tips and notes :

- The ride to reach the location will take you approximately 90 minutes from Zamalek.
- If you have limited time and only wish to see the mural ask the driver to take you straight to Samaa'n Kharraz Church , there is a short cut road that will take you straight up , when you arrive ask for Majid , he is very helpful and will guide you to a viewpoint over a car garage that will allow you to see it. I must say that when I visited the location two days ago , the lower right part was recently blocked by a new building.
- If you have time and interested to gain perspectives of the place , take a small car , the smallest you can access or rent , drive to Moqattam Mountain , ask locals how to reach Mansheyyet Naser , drive from the garbage city - Mansheyyet Naser - Straight to the cave church.
- Note that locals dont know the church by cave church , they call it Der Sama'an Kharraz

Good luck

Slum area which is nicknamed garbage city and only Christians live here. They recycle, collect and sort the city's rubbish. Definitely worth a visit if you are in to alternative tourism. Combine with a visit to cave church!

Rubbish city was quite an experience. You will
Never feel deprived again. Squalor at its best or worst ?? And the stench. Women sitting sorting rubbish with babies on laps and their goats around them. Gotta see it to believe it.
