Perhaps the most important attraction (alongside the Alabaster Sphinx) of the Mit Rahina Museum in the old capital of Memphis, the statue of the reclining Ramesses II is huge, impressive and worth a visit during your trip to Cairo/ Giza and is usually included in...More

Statue is great and but the rest of Memphis is not worth the time. We went bc we had booked too much time for Giza, so it was worth it for us but we would have been mad if we had booked a half a...More

This statue of Ramses II is located near the village of Mit Rahina in Memphis. The statue is so heavy they built a museum around it rather then move it. The statue is over 30 feet long although it doesn't have any feet.

It is one of the most famous Egyptian statues ever created! Incredibly enormous and hard to conceive how it was hand carved out of solid stone! On display in a fairly remote area outside of Cairo. Other interesting statues are also in this area.

This statue, lying horizontal because of its size and better ability to view it, is impressive, especially with all the other statues to see in the same area.
