The Colossus of Ramses II is inside the building and is carved from one solid piece of limestone and is 10 meters long. The status was discovered in 1820 by a traveler. Mohammad Ali donated the statue to the British Museum, but the task of...More

Memphis museum doesn´t show the importance of the old capital of Egypt but the Sphinx and the colossos of Ramses II are very interesting.

This statue of Ramses II was carved out of stone. While it is unfinished, the statue is immense at over 10m long. Take photos from the second floor for a better image. Must visit while in Memphis

The Colossi of Ramesses II is truly colossal. I took a picture standing next to it and I looked like an ant. The level of detail and artistry displayed in this colossi is absolutely beautiful and the colossi is in excellent condition.

This Colossus is in the museum at Memphis. It is worth the trip. We attended as a large group and admission was included so I cannot speak to the cost of admission. I very much liked this exhibit. It had informative plaques that showed what...More

It's a little bit off the beaten track, but the benefit is that it is less crowded. Maybe not as awesome as the sites at Giza, but definitely well worth visiting. We went as part of a whole day tour where we saw the pyramids...More
