We visited Djoser Pyramid with our tour guide. It is the oldest of all pyramids and combined with the nearby sites and monuments worth the detour. On the same day South of Cairo we also visited Memphis and Sakkara. Sakkara has a museum that explains...More

It's good to start out your touring of the pyramids with this little gem because it only gets better from here! Spend a little time but if you miss it, it's not a huge deal.

The Step Pyramid is a unique structure in Saqqara, built by Pharaoh Djoser. It is truly one of a kind and a sight worth visiting, near Cairo.

One of the intereseting pyramids in Cairo. A different look from those that are smooth on the sides versus the step pyramids.

This is what may be called the world’s first pyramids , the world's earliest stone monument, the importance of this structure cannot be stressed. Although not as spectacular as the Giza Pyramids, still the step pyramids should be among the must visit places when in...More

Step Pyramid is the most notable of monuments in Saqqara and is the tomb of king Zoser. It was built by Imhotep and is probably the oldest major stone structure in Egypt. The Step Pyramid is built with locally quarried clay sandstone which is very...More
