One of the smaller museums, right in the middle of the Medieval City (I visited it several times well before 2015 but tripadvisor does not give me that option). If you are interested in historical textile this is a great place to visit. Beautiful collection, mainly pharaonic, coptic and islamic, well displayed.

This area alone is well worth a visit in old Cairo with the market streets all around it making it a must see and an hour in the textile museum tops off the day. There is some very interesting textiles in here including a nappie thousands of years old. Recently renovated and all have English descriptions attached, worthy of a... More

If you like textiles, this is an excellent spot to visit. It starts with the very earliest scraps of fabric, preserved from thousands of years ago, and continues through Egypt's long history. Good exhibits and well labeled. Wishing they had a gift shop!

Fantastic collection of Egyptian textiles from the last 3500 years, all clearly labelled and well displayed. The building itself is a gem, being the Sabil-Kuttab of Mohammed Ali Pasha. Entry fee was EGP20 and the museum is located in the Bain il Qasreen area, opposite the Mausoleum-Khanqah of Ibn Barquq.

Diapers (nappies), laundry lists, flokati rugs... It was all there some 3500 years ago. I echo the previous reviews on all points. What "blew me away" though, were some of the Pharaonic items from about 3500 years ago. 1) A triangular baby's diaper (nappy) made out of linen. A little pouch for the nappy, which also held a small piece... More

This is absolutely one of the best museums in Cairo. Fully restored, everything is labeled and well perserved. Amazing history of textiles, ancient pieces. Well worth your time and just a step off the path from Khan A Khalili in the tent makers market.
