Visited the Citadel as part of a tour of the Old City of Cairo. I booked this with On-The-Go Tours as an add-on to their Pharaohs Adventure package. This site is well maintained and beautiful.

Difficult to get there on your own since it is not really within walking distance of most hotels. Having a guide saves time and gives you a great historical perspective.. Our guide Ibrahem Mohamed was extremely knowledgeable.

The building inspired by Mohammed Ali is similar to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul and a very impressive building. His tomb is also to be found inside What a lovely view from all of Cairo from the hill

Very nice place for someone to visit in his trip in Cairo. You can also walk there from downtown. Wear a hut and have water with you.

The citadel or Alqal3a is one of the best view in cairo where the ancient history mixed with cairo view from the top. You need the whole day to see every inch in this amazing place.

There is so much to see in Egypt that the Citadel gets overshadowed by the pyramids, etc. But find a good guide that knows the history of the place and you will have a great time experiencing it.
