We went to the citadel on a saturday morning. We hired an uber from our hotel in downtown and it was an easy and cheap journey. There's no need of a guide. Just walk around, enter the mosques, see the pyramids from far away... it...More

This is a disgrace to human civilization. Everywhere is full of urine and garbage. Unesco must act quick and save the history from Egyptian authorities. They are literally not respectful of the valuable history they possess.

Anyone is welcome inside the mosque.Everyone has to remove their shoes or purchase disposable shoe covers for a dollar. Women do not have to cover their hair, but it is nice if they do as a show of respect.

This is a very spiritual tour. No matter your religion, you do appreciate the peace and serenity you experience walking through this old historic and yet active place of worship. You can get a nice view of Cario from outside.

As you can tell from the others it is very easy to get around the citadel. I would do some research as there is interesting history surrounding the structure. Mike
