Impressive place to see mummies and Egyptian heritage
The museum is now a modern structure on 2 levels. The lower level houses 22 mummies of all famous rulers of Egypt including Ramses ll. The upper hall has both Egyptian and more modern Islamic heritage displayed. We could not see the display of the large Gold facade of Tutakamun which was moved to another museum. The museum also has a good Souvenir shop . Overall it’s an impressive piece.

Modern Museum with Mummies of Royalties
Completely different from the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, this newish museum impressed me. It is modern, fully air-conditioned, has modern toilet facilities and a beautiful garden outside. Entrance fee is 240 EGP or about US $8 per person. At the Ground Level are some tall Statues, Mummy with gold-like attire, some wood carvings, jewelries of local women, etc. The most interesting exhibits are at the Lower Level where MUMMIES of ROYALTIES are on display, those of the Kings and Queens of Egypt. Note: Taking photos is strictly prohibited in the above area. Staff are around here to ensure that visitors comply with this requirement. Garden Outside: This is a great area to take pictures. There are Palm Trees, a lake, and the view of the neighborhood behind.

The NMEC display of Royal Mummies is not to be missed
The NMEC contains a display of Royal Mummies that is not to be missed. The display is fascinating. This museum is a new modern museum unlike the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, which is in an old building and is somewhat dusty. However, if you have the time, take it both museums. They are well worth seeing.

A must-visit for all history enthusiasts
As a history buff, standing in the royal mummy hall is a beyond-amazing experience. The museum is easy to navigate and as you walk through it you gain a deeper understanding of Egypt and its history and culture. Standing in front of 30,000-year-old artefacts is a surreal experience.

Tremendous History Museum of the Egyptian Civilisation
This is an extraordinary museum with the main draw being the amazing Pharaoh's Rooms. Low light and an extremely well-thought-out display with information takes you back to the time of the Kings and Queens and worth every minute you spend there. All in all, the museum has done a magnificent job in displaying Egyptian history.

This museum has all the royal mummies
The architecture was beautiful. You get to see the entire royal mummies collection inside the museum. The mummies still had their hair and nail and the museum had at least over 20 mummies. I personally think the mummies were the highlight of the museum but all the other artifacts were amazing too. You also get to see Old Cairo when stepping outside and looking out across the Nile River.

    Go to see for yourselves
Allow at least 3 hours here. Don’t go to Cairo and not visit this museum. Toilets and food are aplenty. Well spaced out with loads to see. Seeing the mummies was incredible. Wheelchairs available inside free (provide id which is returned when you give it back).

    How is your mummy doing?
This is worth seeing. We came here on our first day in Cairo. The displays are very good, cinlduing the large textile hall. The mummies are the big draw, though I find the whole mummy thing kind of macabre. Each mummy is marked with a sign of who they are and what they did. Beautiful grouns, check the lake out back.

One of the Two most important museum in Cairo: Must see
Very modern building housing assorted antiquities from the tombs of the pharoahs and other ancient artifacts of historical interest. There are explanatory films for a fee providing further background info. The most important reason to go here however is to view the Mummies of the pharoahs in the underground floor. No trip to Luxor to see the underground tombs in the Valley of the King and Queens is complete unless you also go to this museum and see the pharoah mummies. They have lasted thousands of years and their condition is remarkable.

If you want to see mummies…
This is a large, modern, air conditioned museum. The first floor exhibits are only somewhat interesting. The really fascinating area is on the lower level where many mummies from the Valley of the Kings are on display. Each mummy has a fairly detailed summary of his or her life and some are paired up with their coffins. Since we will be visiting the Valley of the Kings later on our trip, seeing the mummies was great. Note that photography is allowed on the first floor but not in the mummy display. With fewer visitors and a subdued display area, viewing the mummy display was much more serene than the hustle and bustle of the Museum of Antiquities.

What a great place to visit, there is a parking which is easy to access, you need to have a mask or you can buy inside, buying tickets was so easy there was no queue at all, for egyptian we paid 60 LE for adult and 30 for kids, and 30 for the car, there is a brioche inside for some quick food, entering the main hall was so easy and the place is air conditioned we had a tour inside the hall where you can see items for all eras starting from Pharos time till Coptic egypt, Islamic egypt and till mohamed ali era, then at the lower level you can see all the mummies which are incredible some of them still have hair and teeth till now, the whole place is hilarious but the most fascinating one was there was an artificial limp which was done in the pharaoh era. I really loved the place, you can also hire someone who can give you a tour for the whole place and explain everything we did this for 400 LE. I totally recommend this place

It was fine showing all the history stages of Egypt in a good sequence and with good labeling. Everything was well organized starting from the security check, the parking, the tickets, the nice souvenirs store, and finally the departure. The visitors themselves are the reason of some sort of a chaos and distraction whilst having your tour around the sculptures.

This is a fairly busy (lots of school groups when I visited) museum, presenting an exceptionally well curated selection of artifacts illustrating the development of Egyptian civilization from ancient to modern Egypt. Instead of a collection of artistic masterworks (although some are sprinkled in), the museum provides an overview of such things as the development of agriculture, weaving, etc. in Ancient Egypt. Very educational and well done - essentially (except for the Pharaohs) all in a single very large room.
Downstairs, the famous cache of New Kingdom mummies (no photos!) is tastefully presented in chronological order, with wall panels providing just enough information to understand something of the significance of each individual and his (or in the case of Hatshepsut, her) relationship to predecessor and successor.
The museum is new and off the usual tourist route for now. Unless you have a strong interest, e.g., in the mummies, this is not a "one day in Cairo" destination, but certainly one to consider if you have the time.
One caveat - I took a taxi here and none were to be found when I left; cell coverage was more or less non-existent on my phone. Arrange for a pickup; your taxi will probably just wait for you, but spend about 2 hours here. I walked from here about a mile to my next destination, the Coptic Museum, not a particularly pleasant walk.

The presentation of the mummies of Pharaohs is superbly laid out and easy to follow in both Arabic and English. The story told is focused mainly on the development of history and kingdoms. There is little on the science of mummies, so don't go in expecting that, but be prepared to be inspired by the collection and the ability to closely examine each mummy.

We went to the NMEC on a self guided trip (using Uber) to get there from Giza. The price is 200 EGP for entry and includes the main museum area, textiles museum and Royal Mummies exhibition. It is a modern and clean museum and the shining light is definitely the Royal Mummies. Here you can see Kings and Queens such as Ramses II, alongside others from the 17th to 19th Dynasty. There is a nice cafe serving western style food. Overall a great visit

The place is very clean and organised. Starting with the garage or the parking lot that was spacious and very clean. The entrance has a lovely staircase and then an open air roof that has amazing pyramid like statues . When you enter the museum you'll find a gift shop that is a little bit pricey then the tickets section. I went at around 12 pm it wasn't crowded at all didn't stand in any lines whatsoever. The royal mummies hall is amazing and very organsied and self explanatory loved the dimmed lights gave a very special vibe. The main hall had many sections that were explained at the entrance of the hall. There were videos that explained everything around . There are more halls that were amazing too . Also there is brioche diore an amazing restaurant that has an exceptional breakfast. Totally recommend it for a family outing .

We'd prebooked tickets from the website and entered fine, there are a couple of places to purchase on site too. The museum was incredibly quiet apart from a few medium sized tour groups. The mummies really are amazing and definitely worth going to see. The museum itself is interesting. There is also a small cafe that was serving drinks.

The part that we felt let this museum down was that there was lots of signage for the lake, the open air theatre and the archaeological site but when we went to wander around these we were told no by multiple security guards. They seem to have put a great amount of effort into the grounds and its a shame not to be able to wander around! Overall, I'd recommend a visit but 2 hours is plenty without being able to wander around the site.

We highly recommend seeing the Civilization Museum (where all the big-name mummies are located)!! And going to the Egyptian Museum (King Tut) even though the Grand Egyptian Museum is not open yet. And we recommend you use a Guide to cover the Egyptian Museum and NEMC all in one day.

Pink Lotus Tours, Cairo, provide AMAZING guides.

A must visit when in Cairo. I recommend having a tour guide to help you navigate through the museum. Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be walking through the different areas of the museum. It was fascinating to learn about the civilization process. Many artifacts are displayed and my favorite part was the mummified display section of the pharaohs. Very informative tour and you leave with a great history lesson about Egypt civilization..
I highly recommend this tour.

Even if you don’t like museums, this is worth it. The royal mummies of the Valley of the Kings are displayed here, including Ramses II and Seti I. You can do this in an hour. It’s beautifully laid out and explained, interesting even to younger kids. Tickets are 200 Egyptian pounds each so a little pricey, but it brought a lot of history together. Easy to get around inside, easy drop off and pick up by taxi or Uber. No photos allowed of the mummies.
