Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very simple and small market. Some fresh food some cooked market. Nothing inspiring. Glad that there is a toilet though.

This is a very lively street market with a great concept to sample all the amazing food. You go to the coin store to buy a tray/lunchbox and 5,000 won worth of coins and this allows you to buy food at the different vendors and fill your tray. You can then go back to the coin store to eat comfortably and buy extra soup and rice as needed. Such a lively, fun market!

It's a traditional market in Tongin-dong(Seochon Area). Good to come by as a food tour.
- Organizing a lunchbox with coins seems to be popular. But, it's not necessary if you just wish to get some snacks and drinks.
- Foods here are affordable and nice. For drinks, there are sikhye(rice juice), draft beer, slushes and so on. We also liked kkwabaegi(twisted bread) at the entrance. There's a little resting area nearby and people chill out there.

I spent less than half an hour walking up and down the street, then off to Myeong-dong i go! The main attraction is getting yourself a disposable bento container (i wouldn't call it a box), and load it up with food as you walk along the street, hence making your own lunchboxes. The food isnt all that nice and there is hardly any variety. I have seen people struggling to get their containers loaded with food. I suggest to walk along the street to gauge how appealing the food there is to you. If you are ok with it, then proceed to buy the bento container.

I LOVED the coin thing--probably because I just really like old-timey stuff. We were a bit stupid and wandered through about 3 times before we realised we had to go up the the 2nd floor cafe to buy the tray and coins (this was a Tuesday, I'm guessing there might be more options on a weekend), but once we found what we were doing it was a great way to sample a lot of food. Basically 4 bucks for a whole tray? I'm sold.

Famous for their bento boxes called DOSIRAK, you can change your korean won in the entrance to this market to the old style coins that you can use in some stalls for food. Lots of kimchijeon, tteokbokki, kogi mando, I’m pretty amazed at this small food alley. All colors before my eyes! Can’t wait to be back again.

This market let tourists change their money to some special coins. Use it to exchange food and drinks. I purposely went down just to try their stir fried tteobboki. Love it so much!!

The place to be for one who wants to try every Korean street food! For ₩5,000 change your money to old coins to buy food in the market. Eating area is on 2nd and 3rd floor. Crowded place but filling food.

The coin lunchbox scheme is great - I really recommend the spicy tteokbokki. Many stalls have vegetarian friendly options too.

Visited this place the second time, food wise there is nothing special to purchase but the way of buying traditional coins first before exchanging them against food is kind of an experience.

Can anyone confirm if the market is open on MONDAYS? I have seen multiple postings/websites saying that it closed and open, so not sure. Thanks.
