The first time I came here in 2008, we actually were allowed to swim in the water, but they don't allow that anymore. Even so, the color of the water is simply unreal and it's a beautiful place to stop at.

On the way to Kazbegi, moving along the Georgian Military Road, we stopped for a well deserved leg stretch and appreciate the stunning view of the aqua green waters of the picturesque Zhinvali Water Reservoir. Definitely worth a visit

On an upcountry drive, the reservoir was low. Noticed that people had been around as there was much rubbish around and few bins.

Visited on the way to Kazbegi. You can stop at multiple view points and take in the beauty of the vast water body in beauty blue colour.

Picturesque lake and mountains. It make a nice stop of the Kakheti Region tour even if, apart the nature, it's nothing there.

Stunning blue water surrounded by scenic views. This is was on a trip from Tbilisi to Kazbeg mountain. The entire trip was gorgeous. Went during late summer. There were blackberries, yellow cherries and hazelnuts everywhere. It was really nice.
