It is obligatory to drive past this place that made history in Myanmar.

We were driven past in our bus and it seemed clear that we would not be able to stop let alone get out for photos. Perhaps others have been luckier on quieter days. Anyway we can... read more

We were driven past in our bus and it seemed clear that we would not be able to stop let alone get out for photos. Perhaps others have been luckier on quieter days. Anyway we can claim to have seen the gate at which The Lady stood so many times over the years she was there under house arrest. it... More

We were asked if we would like to see Aung San Suu Kyi house and we told our guide yes - well all you can do is drive by on a busy street but since you are in Burma it should be done.

I was hoping to be able to see her residence but is not in view. Not worth going to in my opinion since there is nothing to really see.

tHE GATE IS LOCKED AND THROUGH THE CRACKS YOU CAN SEE LITTLE. Also unless you are driving a car it is out of the way. Nothing to see but maybe one day they will open the gate???

There is 1 police post in front of the gate. You are not allowed to get in. Just come and see the gate, and the NLD flag hanging there.

Although she now llives in the new capital city, her former residence is blocked from view and guarded. We could not find any crevice in the fence and gate to peek. Not worth the visit

Good to drive by to see it, but not much else to see, was not able to go inside. More impressive single family houses in areas worth seeing.

As she still lives in this house when in Yangon it is closed for visitors with a guard outside. At least he let us stop and walk to the closed gate to have some photos taken :-)

If you are interested in the history of Burma this is a must see. It is a small 2 story house that he and his family lived in. Very emotional if you know the history.
