Visited here on our recent visit to Yangon. The market is huge, covering 2 floors. A variety of stalls, textiles, jewellery, clothing, souvenirs etc. We passed a couple of hours in here but some of the traders do not seem too keen to barter to a great extent. We bought a few bits and pieces but the whole bartering process... More

If you want any souvenirs, don't hesitate to get them here rather than the airport where you will be charged at least twice or even 3 times more. I usually love local markets (although it must be touristic at some point) and this market has it all for me. You may negotiate too, but it goes usually 5-10% off from... More

A tourist place so we just visited to see how it is. It sells a lot gold and silver jewelries, also some sculptures things in many kinds of stones. Of course, thanaka is sold here - the traditional cosmetic.

Do not even think about buying anything here. It is always a bad sign if prices are in dollars rather than the local currency and I never negotiate with anyone who does this. Jade earrings were quoted at $95. I went to a fixed price store, Nandawun, who sold me the same for $5. Sadly, the market has become a... More

Stall after stall same items for sale from jade to shoes, typical Asian market but with less atmosphere. We have travelled through Asian and this is probably the most boring market not much choice at all.

If you have just arrived in Myanmar and are sightseeing in Yangon before going elsewhere in the country then you should come here to get an idea of what is available and prices. This is a tourist trap of course and can be very crowded in some of the alleyways. Travelling around the country we found better quality carvings, crafts,... More

Should you have the luxury of time, I recommend doing this on the first day but not buying anything and then going back on your last day, so that you have basis for comparison with other parts of Myanmar. Don't go with the expectation of having a High Street shopping experience. You have e-commerce for that. Go with the expectation... More

Yangon famous market is certainly OK. Fun to walk around as any market is if you are looking in the mood. Remember to barter but keep in mind that hard core bartering is not necessary as well he prices aren't set too, too high - in my humble opinion :)

It is no doubt crowded as it is famous for tourists. But I still decided to give it a try because of its convenient location and cheap price. I could easily spend the whole day here with endless things to buy from souvenirs, local woven cotton clothing, paintings, artifacts, foodstuffs, fashion or even jewelries. And for people who haven't been... More
