About
We are a contemporary Fair Trade craft shop supporting small Myanmar producers, opening opportunities for them to improve their social and economic situation. We are committed to using local materials and local artisans to produce quality, handmade products with a modern twist. Our producers include people with HIV, street youths, the mentally and physically disabled, and small family businesses fighting poverty. When you are in Yangon drop by to pick up some ethically-sourced memories of your time in the land of a thousand pagodas. We also have a shop in Bagan!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful products, all made in different parts of Myanmar, for reasonable prices. Good for supporting women and vulnerable people in MM.

Pomelo sells a real mix of fairtrade treasures, from textiles, handmade jewellery, wooden kitchenware, papier mache figures and much more. The quality is superb, prices cheap and the staff are delightful and extremely helpful. It has a sign outside but the shop is up a little stairwell. Very well worth making the trip there.

Pomelo is a lovely souvenir shop that should be a stop when shopping in Yangon. Well located next to Monsoon restaurant for a lunch or dinner stop, and close to the Colonial District near the Strand area. Selection is small but well executed; prices are fair and the items are well made. Very attentive shop staff; they leave you alone to browse but are on hand to answer questions. I came in late afternoon, after a day traipsing around the city. Seeing that I was a bit weary, they offered me a glass of water which was caring and thoughtful. Best of all ... proceeds go to local charities for your tourist spend to do some good.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Pomelo shop today. Excellent range of fair trade handicrafts. Bought pillow covers, coin purses, a beaded necklace and a hand made reversible skirt for my daughter. Colourful designs and fair prices. Staff were friendly, helpful and English speaking. Then went next door to Monsoon for delicious lunch. Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

This is quite a good place to do your homeward bound gift shopping and it also assure fair trade for it's producers. So you'll be doing everyone a favour. I hope they've restocked, because when I visited just after Christmas stock was very low and options limited. I'm quite sure it'll be worth another visit by now. There are no bargains to be had, as you might expect, and you may find similar items more cheaply in the more northern areas of the country
