Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was simply a delightful experience. There were wonderful examples of artwork, which were both beautiful and unexpected! We had a guide, but after a few minutes we wandered off so we could absorb all we were seeing withoutcommentary or indeed any sound at all! It’s hard to describe what we found, but we loved the use of everyday objects and the use of colour which was evident everywhere we looked. The heritage of the islands was very much in evidence among the exhibits. Needless to say, we brought back some lovely photos. The gallery is on the sea front, and there are tables and chairs where you can relax for a few minutes. I’d highly recommend this place. We loved it.

Recently I stopped in Port Vila hoping to see the art works of Michoutouchkine and Pilioko and purchase their painted clothing. Years ago they had a shop in the main street where I purchased many fine cotton clothes for me, family and friends that would have been so suitable now in this steamy Sydney weather. Unfortunately the former Russian Michoutouchkine passed away last year and the Foundation where they lived, painted and have a gallery was closed. Pilioko must be on holiday. I still wear those blouses and dresses today.!!

This was an amazing experience. We were shown around this property and house with all the art . It is different . Those wanting a pristine and serious look at art would possibly not enjoy it but the setting and our guide were wonderful. We were shown it all, all the brightly painted structures, the vehicle, and the art. just loved it

Visited the Art Foundation. Sad to see that it has a 'past its hayday' feeling about it. Its rundown and needs a LOT of work to bring it back.
Nevertheless the exhihition and his workplace still hold a dreamlike and at times eerie appearance. I was transformed into Nikolai Michoutouchkine's world which was great.
Thats why we should all go and have a look for something kind of magical and unexpected.
The entrance fee will go towards the maintainance of the Foundation.
Try something different.

I am not sure on the artistic value, I am not an expert and the paintings are indeed expensive. The fact is that Mr Pilioko is just unique. He is a witness of what living life as an artist through and through means. It is really very very interesting and heart touching.

The highlight of this spot it s to meet and talk with Aloi Pioloko. If you miss him, the gallery tour is average. Aloi he is an unique artist and if you can come inside his home, it s incredible !!!

Having seen the art of these two artists in a restaurant in town we were keen to visit the gallery (we are both art students). However we were very disappointed. The only time we saw anyone was when a man appeared to take our money (about NZ$12 per person) who vaguely waved his hands and indicated we could look around. After that we saw no-one and were unsure about which areas/buildings were private or public and felt rather uncomfortable wandering around and were concerned about intruding in private spaces. The art work we did see was interesting however some more human interaction or guidance would have been appreciated. We were very disappointed and would be reluctant to recommend this due to cost and our experience.

My husband, daughter and I visited this amazing gallery in January. We bought a gorgeous painting then enjoyed sitting having a vodka with Aloi. Everyone at the gallery was so friendly, even with the language barrier. Everything at the gallery was painted, from trees, clothing, we even got driven back to our resort in his decorated car. Well worth a visit.

This is a hidden gem in Vila. Not as you would expect of a Gallery but having bought a Piliolko Painting over 20 years ago we were excited to return and meet the artist himself. A wonderful eccentric man. Well worth the visit.
