Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Somehow you expect a friendly hello. Maybe a smile when you come to the register to pay. Lunch at 2pm doesn’t seem unreasonable does it? None of that though. And the tourist centre is a deep sigh and a leaflet after asking about touristy things to do.

Sure. It’s a place to go to when you feel like a little bit of home. But don’t expect too much. 3 out of 5.

Friends is a great place to see clearly priced options for different trips. They happily confirm boat trips etc., and tried again when they couldn’t get through the first time to make a booking for me. No issues with any of the excursions I took.

We were relaxing in the bar and decided to book a trip to the traditional dinner. It did take them a while to arrange it but we got there in the end.

This whole day tour is a must for all newcomers to the island. Colin, our tour guide, was very knowledgable. We visited all of the main attractions on the island, and some of the less know ones. Places we visited, Captain Cook Landing site, then drove down the east side to the Ha'amonga trilithon. Then to the Ohelei Beach resort ( going back there soon for a cultural feast), followed the Natural Land Bridge. We then stopped for lunch at Keleti Beach Resort. And then onto the blowholes, Tsunami Rock and the flying fox sanctuary.
The whole day was awesome and Colin had so many stories to tell, he was awesome.
I would recommend this trip to everyone. $140 per person for the whole day. It's the best way to see all the island. And then you can hire a vehicle and go back to the places and spend more time if you so wish.

Frequented this place several times during my stay in Tonga. Organised trips to other outlying islands including Pangaimotu and Fafa Islands. Internet was not working the best when i was visiting and sometimes the service was a little delayed. Nice wee cafe attached.

Collin is a friendly and very informative guide. You can book either a half day or full day (6 1/2 hours) island tour. We went to every single "attraction" on the island (we skipped the Anahulu Cave based on reviews here) and received so much information either spontaneously or in response to our questions. The minivan is air-conditioned and comfortable. We were lucky to have a private tour as they do go out with just 2 people. Cost was ~$130 USD for 2 people ($140 TOP each). Be aware that the restaurant that used to be used for a lunch stop was destroyed by the cyclone in Feb. 2018. Collin will stop for you to get snacks or water anywhere along the way.

We were super happy we took this tour, instead of renting a car and just driving to the sites on our own. We learned so much about the history of Tonga, as well as the natural sites on the island. One of our favorite stops was the Hufangalupe Natural Bridge. It is just beautiful, but there are no road signs pointing it out, and it's down a bumpy, almost overgrown dirt road. We would never had found it on our own.

Thanks, Collin, for an excellent day!

After hearing such good reviews about this place, I was highly disappointed with the service. If you want to take a trip to one of the islands it is actually cheaper to just go to the ferry and take a trip and pay directly both for Royal Sunset Resort (Atata) and Pa'angimoto.

From the centre we managed to get a taxi with another couple and were treated to some very interesting sights and related to us, all the history that we could absorb.
Our lady driver was very easy going and really went around the back streets to show us sights that the tourist would not usually see.

I visited Friend's most days I was in Tonga. it has great coffee and a good restaurant, plus cheap WiFi and public computers. There's a wide selection of flyers and leaflets about destinations in Tonga and the staff were very helpful in answering questions. It's worth checking prices and negotiating directly with the different places as it seems like Friends takes a commission for booking.

Great food menu and bar with a cafe area offering tasty cakes and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.
Located in the main street just down from the new government building.
